March 26, 20206 yr I'm seeking opinions on what may be the most relaxed Carenado Jet with goof performance and framerate (if there is such a thing). My goal is reasonably quick flights between USA medium and large airports. My favorite quick flight is a San Diego to LAX shuttle, at night. I only have a moderate computer compared to your modern rigs, and can only use HD planes if I reduce texture size. I'm not a pilot, and not looking for study planes. I don't currently own a Reality XP or anything like that. At my slightly advanced age I'm a fan of the Carenado "Ready To Taxi" implementation. Thanks in advance for your opinions. i7 2600K @3.4 GTX 760 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F 32.0 GB memory Windows 11 Home Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060
March 27, 20206 yr Depends what you consider good performance, but concerning framerate the analog C550 should be the best choice.
March 28, 20206 yr Author Yes, I'm looking for better framerate as I've heard some Carenado jets suffer a bit. Thanks... Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F 32.0 GB memory Windows 11 Home Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060
March 28, 20206 yr The 550 is a nice one IMO with the additional advantage that it can get into very small airfields due it's low approach speeds. Edited March 28, 20206 yr by FDEdev
March 28, 20206 yr Author Many thanks, do you have an opinion on the 550 versus the 525? Which Carenado jet has has the best performance, it that's a valid question. Edited March 28, 20206 yr by kttd Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F 32.0 GB memory Windows 11 Home Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060
March 28, 20206 yr That's also a nice one, but glass cockpits can have a big impact on the framerate depending on the PC. Furthermore on the small mice cinema screens basic information like speed, altitude and vert speed are more difficult to read than on the big analog gauges.
March 28, 20206 yr Author thanks again... Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F 32.0 GB memory Windows 11 Home Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060
April 27, 20206 yr If you are using a 32-bit platform (FSX or an early P3D) then VAS usage is another important element of performance which you need to consider bearing in mind the 4GB VAS limitation of these platforms. I measure the approximate VAS footprint of all the aircraft I buy and relate that to the default Beech Baron and the Carenado Citation 550 seems to have the lowest VAS footprint of all their jets using just over 400MB more than the Baron. The Phenom 100 and 300 have mid-range VAS footprints at around 650-700MB but all the other Carenado Jets (I have most of them) have very high VAS usage with most of the later releases exceeding 1GB and some getting close to 1.5GB. Although they are still flyable within FSX (which I still use) you can potentially get very close to the 4GB ‘Out of Memory’ threshold if you combine these aircraft with some VAS intense scenery or airports.
