What happened to the Garmin 500?

The terrain depiction is not nearly as good as on FS9, and runways don't show up on many smaller airports as they used to in FS9. I mean the terrain is a blurry color-variation only depiction. On FS9, the depiction was a very nice shadowed effect. And at zooms above to 3.5m-1, I can't get those nice lines with the orientation of runways like I am used to, at least for smaller airports (was flying out of 2OR4 today). You have to zoom incredibly in. Same for the general map view.Admittedlly, I am using full beta (man, it sure is going to be nice to finally get to release date). Was this corrected in retail version?

I noticed that too. It is the same in the delux retail version as well. It is still washed out and blury. There are no more crisp terrain details. There is a chance that it may be a rendering problem as in when the system is overloaded it cuts back on some detail in other areas. I have been getting pretty good performance with 20-30 FPS, and I have a fairly good system but I still get the washed out textures in the GPS. Who knows, maybe that is the way it is supposed to be now?

I think the colors of neighbouring heights could use a bit more contrast, but aside from that I like the new system better. In FS9 it was harder (for me, anyway) to distinguish between a dark color that meant higher ground and a dark color that was simply a lighter color but with a shadow on top of it.In FSX there's no more guessing involved in that sense.
