Night Textures for AI Aircraft

Featured Replies

I have done exhaustive tests today relating to AI night-lighting (windows/logos NOT taxi/strobes) and have found that FSX has made a retrogade step from FS2004.When I placed the bmp file in the FSX/Texture folder (like FS2004) - No night lights. When I placed the bmp file in the main aircraft folder (as a test) - No night lights. When I placed the bmp file in the aircrafts own texture folder - NIGHT LIGHTS ON (which come on just as the a/c taxis).(this was the case for all these AI models - pai, aardvark & fsp.)The above is the only way I could get his feature to work (even the default aircraft don't have this it?!) but I need this confirming please?

Microsoft cut down on the searching for textures that cannot be found in the individual folder in FSX.There is a file required in texture folders now - texture.cfg.It needs to contain search path for textures.(fltsim)fallback.1=........textureWill have FSX look in the main texture folder.(Note parathenses used instead of brackets above because of the way the forum works)This looks four levels up for a folder named texture:Lvl 1 - the aircraft model folderLvl 2 - the airplanes folderLvl 3 - the simObjects folderLvl 4 - the main FSX folder

So, is it possible to create a folder called AINightTextures in the SimObjects folder and just put all your AI night textures in there by themself? That would be better than having them in the main FSX Texture folder.Matt

Great idea Matt. It's so easy to think inside the FS2004/FS2002/FS2000/FS98... box and not look at possibilites opened up by FSX.

What about these same lights on the Default A321 and 737-800? My Cabin and Logo lights don't seem to work on these aircraft.

I have been banging my head against a very big brick wall this morning and the only way I can get the night-lighting to work is by having the lightmap file in with the aircraft texture?I have tried Matts suggestion of having a folder within the SimObjects folder; I have tried having a lightmaps folder within the Texture folder; I have tried the lightmap file in the Scenery/Global/Texture folder and using the "default" texture.cfg folder and even just haing the lightmap in the texture folder. Each trial has been used with and without a texture.cfg file in place to no avail? So, back to flying in daylight now until I can find a way around this or a way to transfer my lightmap files in to over 5000 folders!!

Hi FolksMobomantexture.cfg is not a folder.texture.cfg is a text file which you place in the a/c's repaint folderwhich points to the location you wish to alias. If you wish to keep standard light maps in the default texture folder, you must add a texture.cfg file to each of your repaint folders.Look at the FSX default a/c texture folders for an example.HTHATBPaulhttp://www.basys.f9.co.uk/resources/images..._sig_500x94.jpg

(Still doesn't work though!)
