P3D v4.5 Erratic throttle control

Featured Replies

Good Day, I have been experiencing an issue with erratic throttle controls. Here are the specifics, P3D v4.5, Thrust Master Hotas.. I first noticed the issue while flying my Carenada KingAir 350I. The first time I seemed to to have issues was when I tried setting up a used Saitek Pro Flight yoke, pedels and 2 throttle Quadrants. I could not get any of them to work properly, just very jittery and not flyable at all. Tried setting them up with both FSUIPC and just within the program settings, but could not get them to work properly either way. I took the throttles apart and cleaned all of the potentiometers, but no improvements. Ever since then I have not been using the Saitek gear and  issue seems to have progressively gotten worse. I thought it might be that my Hotas was the problem, however, even if I control the throttle controls within the cockpit with the mouse I have the same problem. When I attempt to move the condition lever on either of the engine start up the throttle leavers fluctuate erratically and in fact move to reverser status. I originally thought it may have been an issue with the Kingair 350I but I have discovered it in other aircraft as well. I do by the way occasionally fly in FSX Steam and everything works fine. Would you suggest a fresh install of P3D or do any one know of any other instances of this?

I would appreciate any comments on this.

Thanks Kevin

I assume you calibrated the controllers within P3D? and set the sensitivities all way right to 127 (I think it is), I use the Thrustmaster also. You can also go to Controllers/misc. and change controller input to digital input. (may have to redo settings)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

If you have any other HID devices on the computer--joysticks, gamepads, throttle, rudder etc, you have to go into the Controls menu in P3D and check the configuration of each and every one of them, as P3D will make default assignments every time it sees a new controller connected.  Sounds like you have a "phantom" device making inputs on the axes that aren't intended.
