Version 4.5 to 5 Strategy

This is all very helpful, thank you. I went out to Microcenter and bought a new 1TB drive for version 5 and some other misc. programs. I'll go the parallel installation route and just go slow with the add-ons. After my hard drive crash, it took the better part of a week to get 4.5 reinstalled and get all of my add-ons loaded again. On the plus side, some small, nagging problems went away with the fresh installation. The downside was really just the time (getting updated files, finding all of my activation keys, etc). I need an Access database or Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all that stuff!😃

are you familiar with Treepad? It should still have a free version. I use it for anything needing remembering. It stores everything in a cvs type database. small footprint. Publisher is no longer around but you can still get it. Cnet is reliable - https://download.cnet.com/TreePad-Lite/3000-2074_4-10322931.html, I've used it about 8 years, sweet and simple runs even on Linux
