Questions about CPX

Featured Replies

I think CPX might be the product Ive been looking for, but before I commit to purchasing this, I would like to ask if it can do the following:

1. Add the following camera param - "RenderOnlySimObject = TRUE"
2. Export and import camera settings from aircraft.cfg

As most Aircraft vendors dont provide 2D panels or popup instruments anymore, Ive been forced to hand create equivalent camera views and store these in aircraft.cfg, which seems to take me ages to get right.
I need these as I have a generic cockpit hardware setup, instead of just using a single screen virtual cockpit/outside view like most people use, so I have to build my instrument panel with one or more separate window/cameras showing specific instruments.
To ensure that multiple 3D virtual cockpit windows/cameras impact frame rates as little as possible, LM provided the RenderOnlySimObject param, which limits the window to show only the interior of the 3D virtual cockpit, and no outside or scenery objects. (I use a total of 6 monitors).

I've read through the documentation for CPX from your website, and whilst I can see you have provided support for params, the documentation doesn't show all the params that are available, so Im hoping RenderOnlySimObject is one of those I could select.

Also the documentation states I can transfer camera config to another aircraft, but is it possible to export the camera, and later import it back in?
The reason this would be handy is that every time I have to run updates for certain aircraft, the updates blow away the aircraft.cfg file, and so I have to manually add these back in. If I could export any camera config from the aircraft.cfg prior to update, I could then re-import, once the aircraft.cfg has been overwritten by the product update.

Hello,

  1. "RenderOnlySimObject" - this parameter is not listed in the platform documentation. Are you sure that it is genuine and that it does something? I could add it to the list, but since it isn't an official property, it is not there by default.
  2. You can reapply previous camera configurations of an aircraft (those that have been created using the tool) in case the aircraft.cfg has been updated. The export to the backup file is done automatically.

Edit: never mind, I found the "RenderOnlySimObject" hidden in the cameras.cfg. Curious why it isn't mentioned in the spec. But it seems to be P3D V4/V5 only.

I will add that parameter to the current development version that is in the works because of the update to P3D V5.

Hello David,

please send me an email with your order number and shop to the address on the last page of the manual. I will then send you a copy of the current development state right away, and you can try out that parameter.

Best regards
