Recover acceleration pack product key from current install?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am about to do a clean reinstall of Windows 10 and all my sofware to a new NVME M.2 drive.

However I have misplaced my acceleration pack disc and key. 😞   It should be with the FSX box 😞

Is it possible to download the Accelaration pack installer and recover the key from my current install?

I tried Belarc. Although it shows FSX-Xpack and the version number the key is not listed.

Thanks for your time and any info.

Doubtful that the key can be recovered from your install.  Might be time to think about buying FSX-SE when it's on sale!

You might try something like the Magical Jelly Bean keyfinder.

There was a way to do this.... I remember it from wayyyyyyyy back in the day but I'll have to find it.

While I look for it, you might check your main FSX folder for a file called dlxkey.txt, but the recovery I'm thinking of actually pulls it from the registry.  If that file isn't there, you can always try calling Microsoft for assistance.  They won't perform tech support per se, but they should do activation support.

If all else fails, wait for FSX Steam (FSX:SE) to go on sale onj Steam for roughly $5.00.  It's an updated version of FSX Acceleration which in my opinion is better and has better conformance.  I used all versions of FSX for years and swear by the Steam Version.

Okay, found it.  What I used many moons ago was THIS.

You can also try Belarc Advisor.  One neat feature of this is that if you have a whole lot of flight sim payware it will scan your computer and give you a report of all the keys which you can then save in a text or MS Word file (Excel file, etc.) so if or when you have to do a reinstall you won't have to go to different websites or search for various emails to get your keys for the reinstall.  This doesn't work for all products, but it does work for many of them.l

I've always kept all my keys and associated info in a Word file.  Really helps!

Best wishes.
