Activating FSX troubles

Featured Replies

Could someone please give me the phone number to activate FSX. I've been trying for several hours now and can't seem to activate over the internet connection. Everytime I click the phone activation it gives me some crap about an error and that I may need to reinstall. All I want is the phone number...please.Thanks, Dan

I'll give it a shot thanks. I think this is for volume lic only. I'll call though. Maybe they can give me the right number. Thanks, Dan K

Hi DanThe number for Canada and US is 1-866-740-1256. It can be found in your FSX files C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X Phone Activation.xml, but don't count on it working. I have been trying to get mine activated for over a week now. I have spent about 4 hrs. with microsoft support and still can not get an answer. The error I get is "Product Activation Error""An error occured while attempting to activate the product. The problem may be due to an incomplete installation of the application. Reinstalling the application may resolve the problem. Otherwise contact product support for assistance."I have done about 8 or ten reinstallations, contacted product support, did the shared desktop with them and still no farther ahead. The last time I talked to them they gave me a phone number and suggested I get a reimbursement as they could not help. Great support. I wan't my flightsim to work thats why I pre-ordered it. So now I'm stuck waiting till hopefully someone on these forums can find the reason why it does not work for me. Don

Don, I'm in the same boat as you. I get the same error message. I preordered mine aswell. I've been trying to activate over the last 3 days since I received it. The first thing that po'd me was the fact that I paid $20 more to preorder it then people who got it from the store direct. Now this BS of not being able to activate, unreal. I can run it great on my system for a whole 30mins. I'm a little upset at this point. Thanks for the number though, I'll give it a try.Dan

I've have the same problem. After a reinstalling I still get the Server Busy or your internet connection is broken screen. Called Microsoft they finally said return you copy for another. Did that, reinstalled, now at least it tries to connect for activation but returns with same as before (server busy or internet broke).

I'm hearing too many "return your copy for another" ending with the same results. Sounds like MS doesn't know what the problem is either. For me to return my copy and anyone else who preordered it would be a major hassle. I got mine from the store here. Nothing bad about this store as I received my copy on the 17th. Thanks guys for that. But I'd be without for who knows how long know with all the backorders. Way to go MS. Another product they release that has been fully tested and 90% of the bugs worked out. I'm just glad that the end users didn't have to beta test FSX for them. sarcasum (sp) intended. :)Dan

And this is the same MS that wants to restrict Vista activation policies because their perfect software can't possibly make a mistake about pirated software or changes to the hardware configuration?Still, 10,000 jobs created in the Customr Service department in Lahore can't be bad thing when Vista needs to be troubleshot by millions of users who thought they were buying an Operating System, not a NON-Operating System. ;)Hope you get the installation sorted.Allcott

Thanks Andy. Covered that one already. It's hard to beleive that more people are not having a problem with this. I'm on hold with tech support now. If they tell me to reinstall, I'm going to blow. I've reinstalled 3 times now. IMO, this is totally unacceptable.Dan

Finnally guys what to do, same happenning here, did someone got the exchange and got it to work after, if anybody has an answer, please write it up
