October 20, 200619 yr I,ve got the problem of the taxiway line flashing on and off while I'm taxing. My system ins't the latest and greatest so don't know if is my setup fault or what. Specs are Athlon 64,3000; Radeon ATI 9800 Pro; 1 GIG system RAM.Anybody experiencing this?Jim
October 20, 200619 yr Not experienced this, but I would guess that it is either a mip-mapping issue or something to do with anisotropic filtering. To clairfy that a little: mip-mapping is the computer program storing several sizes of the texture and swapping them around when your view angle and distance changes so that the thing upon which the texture is mapped remains visible and well rendered. Anisotropic filtering affects the sharpness or fade levels of an object as it grows distant, it is usually implemented to keep things sharp as they get further away and the resolution makes clear rendering more difficult. Not sure if any of this knowledge will help, but it may possibly point you to a solution Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
October 20, 200619 yr Author I don't have the retail version yet and I haven't had that specific problembut I have had 'flashing water' that occurred only when it rained. The problem changed from Demo1 to Demo2 (the pattern changed and thefrequency of the flash slowed). In Demo2 its very much like a beacon of some kind (normal, normal, normal,FLASH,normal, normal, normal,FLASH).I discovered that turning water effects off stopped the problem. I'mwaiting for the retail to see if anything else has changed.I had originally thought the problem sorted itself out in Demo1 but thenI defragged and the problem returned. not sure if that had anything to do with it.I'll investigate further when I get the retail.my system:Athlon64 3400+ K8Ne-deluxe nForce3 250Gb1.5Gig DDR400 Kingston eVGA 6800GT 256M 8xAGP 80Gig WD 7400rpm ATA100Win XP SP2 home | Dave | I've been around for most of my life.
