June 12, 20205 yr Hello everyone, I am new here so I thought about posting here instead of another section, please move the thread if you reckon it's in the wrong place. I have a PC that runs 24/7 as my home automation server, CCTV and other stuff. But, this is also what I use for X-Plane 11. My current setup is: Intel i5 7600K, 32GB RAM, GTX 1060 6TB, main SSD drive + HDD general storage. My question is, should I decide to spend something on a newer graphics card, would it be worth it? I am talking about a couple of hundred pounds (let's say around $250 I guess) on top of the resale value of the GTX 1060 (another £100 maybe). Would it be worth it or is it just wasted money with little improvement? What I am hoping for is high FPS when I play. Right now I don't have all the X-Plane settings maxed out, but what I get is anything from 40 fps when I start playing to, sometimes, less than 20 while I'm in the middle of the clouds. I fly mainly the Flight Factor A320 plane and the resolution is pretty basic too (I use a normal TV that doesn't go beyond 1366x768). Anything worth doing?
June 13, 20205 yr Welcome to Avsim! I do not have X-Plane, so I cannot help, but if your question does not get answered in this thread, I suggest you create a thread in the X-plane forum here at Avsim. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
June 19, 20205 yr I would only consider a better graphics card if you want to increase your viewing resolution beyond what you are presently using. Latest video at The Flight Level Flight Over Frozen Lake Erie - Between Ice and Clouds - Ultimate Solitude - The Perfect Memory
