No need to continue disrepect in this manner. You are both acting more childish than the original poster if you ask me. Let's keep this sane and civil shall we.
October 30, 200619 yr Hello Folks,I'm having the same message upon attempting to launch FSX, however, I have not used any 3rd party add-ons. I have had this happen to me two times now, for no apparent reason, I have restored my computer to bring FSX back. On this go around, I tried deleting fsx.cfg, to no avail, and I am now (as of this writing) using the Repair operation from the DVD. I'll edit this post as to how it goes...
October 30, 200619 yr I remember reading something about the log book file getting corrupted and causing this.
October 30, 200619 yr > Allcott,I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a>frontal lobe:-beerchug I think the line you're grasping for is - "I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy." :)
October 30, 200619 yr Man , I thought there was a doomsday asteroid on its way! Glad to here its just someones sim messing up. Geeeeeeeeezzz close call!
October 30, 200619 yr This has happened to me on occasion after I have changed files within FSX. When it does, I just reboot the computer and it gets cleared up.Mike
October 30, 200619 yr I have this problem as well, the peculiar thing is that FSX will start again in what seems to be a random manner. Yesterday it wouldn't go and three re-boots later it went like a charm. Once it starts it is solid, it is only the start that is dodgy. I am using no other add-ons. I tried FSX repair after it happend first time, that did not good at all with no change. I have now developed the habit of trying to start FSX when I first boot up so I know whether I have an "FSX working" boot or not. Its a very peculiar problem and is hard to track down. I should point out that I have did not alter FSX or any aspect of my PC between boots it justs seems to work or it doesn't. I have even had ocassion when clicking on the FSX icon does nothing at all it doesn't even get to the dreaded failure message which was mentionedI have no clues as to what could be causing this but I was very pleased to hear that I am not alone. I have dual core processor and I wondered if that was playing a part but may be it is only wishful thinking on my part. I don't know whether this is related but yesterday I found that part of my controls XML file had changed, there was only one definition for the "pause" function and normally there are two and my "next view" command (s) had disappeared. Luckily I had a copy of all my system drive FSX files and quickly fixed this. As to why and how it happened is beyond me. I haven't got to the stage of "fiddling" with FSX so I can say with some conviction that it is nothing that I have done. When something works in a random fashion with absolutley no hardware/software changes is black magic, so much for "Computer Science" ;)Anyway this mornings boot showed FSX was good to go so I wait in dread of the next time I boot and its fails. I can say that FSX has always got this problem directly after a boot, once FSX runs I can close and reopen it without problem.I need to buy a spell from a witch doctor any around? ;)My Specs: XP Home, AMD4800+, DFI Lanparty Mobo, 2 * nvidia 7800GTX graphics cards, 2 gigs matched corsair memory, 2 Samsung LCD monitors (start failure happens whether I use one or both monitors with and without SLI). John Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics, Samsung Odyssey wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.
October 31, 200619 yr Duplicate Post. Sorry. John Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics, Samsung Odyssey wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.
October 31, 200619 yr >Yellowjack, the problem is almost certainly the card>drivers.>>>AllcottA good thought but I am using Nvidia 91.47 and tried 93.50 this morning with the same result, when FSX works it goes great with the graphics and if it was the card drivers the proble would be consistent which this problem at least in my case is not.The question is "What changes between boots?"
