OH MY GOD HELP ME.i thought i would go onto FSX again to try out the tips given by Matt in response to my post i posted about 5 mins ago and got this very worrying message''flight simulator was unable to load some program files and will now exit. please reinstall flight simulator to restore or repair the program installation''could this be whats causing the problems with the game (blurry textures and slow performance)??please help me because i am at my wits end.MIKE

Hi mikeypost your system specs plz steve

hi you can see my computor specs by looking at my reply to my topic titled FSX is amazing - i dont think so.thanks

>OH MY GOD HELP ME.>>>MIKEOk, first take a deep breath before you have a heart attack :)It sounds like you may have deleted something that shouldn't have been deleted. You may need to reinstall or repair.Matt

Hi mikeyTheres no specs there..CPU,vid card, amount of memory,Hard drive size and type, only thing i can suggest you try is deleting your Fsx.cfg file and let it form another one.also go with default settings, don't try and push your hardware.i have a brand new High spec system and my Fsx setting are all mid range. hope this helps steve

You can't yell for help and then expect folks to scrounge around looking for needed information that you won't provide. Things don't work that way around here.Doug PS: On a positive note, try deleting the fsx.cfg file and let FSX build a new on the next time it's started.

thank god your here Matt....bit of FSX surgery needed i think. cheers steve

Wow, it so DIFFICULT to put the DVD in the DRIVE so FSX can REPAIR itself. Bit of frontal lobe surgery and some prozac needed I think.Calm down, son, it's only a game. Allcott

Alcott ,this could be young kid ,who has spent a lot of money buying this Game..instead of stupid comments..why don't you try and help him???. would you be CALM if you spent

LOOK GUYS I AM SO SORRY AND WILL CALM DOWNHowever FSX is acting wierd. i had tos hut down the computor due to a problem and when i restarted it i could get on FSX without that message being displayedwhat is going on???MIKE

MikeI have been getting the exact same message!''flight simulator was unable to load some program files and will now exit. please reinstall flight simulator to restore or repair the program installation''Have uninstalled and re-installed to no avail. Still appears after a while EVEN AFTER a fresh XP install followed by FSX:(It looks as though it may be caused by installing third party addons - just happened to me after I installed Active Sky 6.5Hope we can both find an answer - its really frustrating!Adam

Guys,Let's not be so hostile. I agree that this may be a younger person who spent a significant amount of money on a computer game. Instead of being hostile, let's try to help him. I remember when I was new to the forum concept, namely tech support forums, I didn't even think to provide such information. Let's be patient!!! :)

Sincerely,

Chase

>PS: On a positive note, try deleting the fsx.cfg file and let>FSX build a new on the next time it's started. In case Doug's suggestion got missed in the frenzy of posting...Reinstalling ANY version of Flightsim should be the absolute LAST RESORT... and even then it's a useless excercise unless you manually delete the various .cfg files (e.g., fs9.cfg, fsx.cfg)MOST of the time, simply DELETING the configuration file and letting the sim build a fresh copy will SOLVE the problem your having... :-beerchug

'Alcott' was not stirring the brown stuff at all, it would have been my answer too. Most resonably intelligent people (and you have to be to fly, anyway!) only ask on here after making SOME effort trying to resolve an issue? Not cry, as soon as things don't go their way.Seems that 'Common Sense' is a failing attribute, dormant in today's youngsters?

Firstly, it's `Allcott`. At least spell it right if you want to insult or else it just makes you look even more ridiculous.Second, the advice was there, put the DVD in the drive and repair the installation. I have no idea whether the repair function also examines and repairs those files held outside the sims' main folder, as I wouldn't be so stupid as to make changes to key files without backing them up first, but it certainly didn't do that in earlier versions. Armed with that information - and the other advice in the thread to delete the FSX.cfg and let the sim build a new one on next boot our panicked poster could have got the game back up and running in minutes. As Dave says, common sense. I have no idea of the age of our original poster, but the approach to the problem was childish.Allcott
