October 22, 200619 yr In the 'display.cfg' file there are video cards listed.I wonder if more entries could be made for unlisted cards.I have a 7950 GX2 and it's not listed. So I wonder what video card entry my fsx install uses?
October 22, 200619 yr It's not necessary for each and every card to be listed. In fact, this file is really for "bad" cards or drivers and enables us to turn off certain features. A good example are the nVidia FX5000-series cards that have very poor Shader 2.0 support. You'll see we've disable 2.0 functionality for those cards.
October 22, 200619 yr WaldoI have same video card as you--curious what kind of FPS you're getting let's say at KATL? or KDTW? With most of the tweaks followed for the forums (except turning off shaders, and resizing textures to 512), I'm getting 30-40fps...however, can't get above 15-20 in KATL and even worse at KDTW airport--though I get 20-30 at Heathrow, Amsterdam etc with as much if not more scenery/autogen.Also, windows xp only displays 512MB for the 7950 which has 1GB--I looked in dxdiag etc still shows 512MB, are you seeing same?I also downloaded from cooltips an overclock function--it allows you to tweak a little more from factory settings which is set at 500Mhz I believe...however, I can't overclock more than 550Mhz.ThanksRakeAMD FX-60Nvidia 7950 GX2 (1GB)4 GB low latency RAMRaptor 150GB 10000rpm HDDell 24" wide running 1950X1200 resolution

October 23, 200619 yr I've got an ASUS A8N32-SLI-Deluxe...just updated my bios to 1204...I made the conversions you did but my FPS at KATL 09 is 10-15FPS--normal autogen/50% AI traffic/max mesh complexity/19M terrain mesh...I use the King Air VC as the FPS test platform everywhere for consistency.Concur...FSX is sapping CPU the most...the Dell 24" is awesome...1000:1 contrast ratio 6ms refresh rate...go with 1900x1200/32 bit resolution (maybe that's why my fps is a bit diffrent--what res are you set at?).Rake
October 23, 200619 yr Hi. Please let me ask you a question about the 2.0 shaders. You say you turned them off for certain cards. I turned mine off on my ATI X800XT card,as advised in this Forum to increase the frame rates. When I did the wing views in the default 747 were screwed up. I had to turn them back on to get the wing views correct. How do you expect the users who either don't have shaders or have them turned off to use the default 747 correctly. Why do the shaders only effect the 747 and not any other default planes? Thanks. Regards, Bob.
