October 23, 200619 yr Hi GuysI have been flying the Baron (Analougue Cockpit) Yesterday and this morning. When I gain altitude I want to lean the Mixture down a little - the only thing is - nothing happens! I haven't tried to pull it all the way backwards, to avoiid the engines to cut, but as long I just move the mixture slider absolute nothing happens. :-( Am I alone here?RegardsHenrik KorningBGGH:-(
October 23, 200619 yr Obvious question. Auto-mixture is UNchecked? Flight realism sliders to the right? If that is the case then it may be that the density altitude is simply at a level that means the leaning is not necessary. Lean the Baron to maintain peak fuel flow in the climb, as that gauge seems more sensitive than the EGT. Allcott
October 23, 200619 yr Henrik,Watch the EGT gauge - you want to bring the EGT to near max. You can leave your mouse pointer on the gauge and see a digital readout of the gauge's values. Another technique is known as "lean-of-peak." Lean of peak means moving the mixture back until you max the EGT (exhaust gas temperature) value. Then, ease the mixture a little leaner (pull the lever back further) from peak. Jeff Bea I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.
October 23, 200619 yr Hi AlcottI am at work right now. I will have a look into the Automixture setting tonight. But when (with my present settings) at 12000 ft. leaning doesn't force any gauge - including the EGT - to do anything, even if I move the mixture slider nearly all way back.Henrik
October 23, 200619 yr I will bet "automixture" is checked in the realism settings-uncheck that and you should be in business.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 23, 200619 yr Hi GeofaYou are probably right, but DID you actually check it out in FSX?RegardsHenrik
