That would be a very useful add-on to use, if someone develops it. 
I had only one experience of de-icing (as a passenger, obviously), and it was interesting to see 😁

I think maybe that they've just used artistic licence - speeding up or exaggerating the effect. There's usually some things in games or sims which are at least a little more dramatic for entertainment purposes. If icing happened at a realistic pace, maybe fewer people would get to experience it during a flight.

I suppose that could be adjusted with a realism slider in an update if it doesn't already exist.

Yup, that was basically my impression too. I know some people might get their knickers in a twist over that, but the thing is new and it's supposed to be fun too and that is where a TPD such as HiFi Simulations could step in with a fancier and more complex implementation of all that stuff in a payware add-on. For most people, having to wait three hours until your airliner is where it might encounter icing so you can see an experience it, is a bit tedious.
