August 2, 20205 yr I am of course excited that it soon will be released...but my biggest concern is if my system will run this "smoothly"... My pc specs more then meet the minimum requirements...but I am pretty sure that those supposed given chart requirements have to be taken with a big grain of salt...well...I guess I will really find out once I install the sim and test run it. In the mean time all else is pure speculation. I do have a million dollar question though: All those promotional trailers that we have seen since the beginning from Microsoft and Asobo which show ultra smooth gameplay with super smooth frame rates...I wonder what system they use...I would love to know all those specs...just out of curiosity...then I would really know exactly what it takes to run that baby smooth as butter!...I am pretty sure that whatever it is they use must be really top of the line hardware!...which means we are talking really big bucks!...
August 3, 20205 yr Not suggesting this is definitely being done with the new MS sim, but always be aware that on montage 'beauty shots' used in promos for a lot of computer games, i.e. those shots which are not identified in any way in terms of settings, it is not unknown for these to be recorded with the sim running at reduced speed, then put into an editing suite and sped back up to the normal sim speed. And it's not always a cheat, sometimes there are genuine reasons for doing so, one such reason would be that there is a need to show a promo shot of a feature, but it has to be captured whilst the sim is not optimised to the speed and performance that the developers know will work when they've done it, but they haven't done it yet. Sometimes there are artistic reasons for doing that sort of thing as well, in order to get a cool effect which would otherwise not be possible. One of my favourite examples of this, is the music video for 'Wrapped Around Your Finger' by the Police. If you watch that, all three band members are seen playing the song and Sting is seen singing it, however, they are in slow motion. How they did that was to have an audio track playing the song on the set at twice normal speed whilst they mimed it, which probably looked and sounded hilarious as they were doing it, however when the high speed film was run at half speed, you get that cool video of them in slo-mo doing the song. Kind of like the opposite of what we see in a lot of promo videos which have amazing frame rates. Here's that video incidentally... Definitely don't want to go purchasing a new system at this point. They have included dozens of settings that can be adjusted for better frame rates, so you might find a compromise that still looks good to you, and if not wait until all of the reports start coming in from everyone else. Likely will be some good info on systems in the first couple of months.
