  1. I've installed 2024 two times previously, when it was first released and after the sim update 3, and had many of the same issues you describe. The worst issues for me was that "cartoon" look and the occasional blurries that I never get in 2020. Thankfully I never uninstalled 2020 because I am very happy with it at this point. The visuals and performance are great on my mid-high end system. In fact I'm still purchasing addons for it because I decided I wouldn't install 2024 again until at least 2027. What I like most about 2020 is no tweaks are needed!
  2. AIFP was great. I have KFLL from LVFR in 2020 and there doesn't seem to be any way to remove their static planes. There is an app to remove them from their KSAN. They are frequently in the way of AIG.
  3. If you let speed management get away from you it's a lot of work to get everything back in control, and some of the things that happen make you think there is a glitch. My favorite commuter once I mastered it.
  4. I recently got KSRQ on sale from VerticalSim. Like all of their scenery it's great. I have several of their airports in Florida and elsewhere. I had trouble getting a download and the head of the company emailed me same day with a link.
  5. Solved. The nav source is changed by using the Course button on the unit.
  6. Thanks, there doesn’t appear to be an HSI option in the GNX-XLS like there is on the GNS530. Just that NAV/GPS toggle switch on the upper center panel. I have that that on GPS if that’s what you mean. Thank you.
  7. For the life of me I can't get the 727 Super 27 to follow a flightplan with the GNS-XLS. When I select NAV the VOR/LOC lights turn on red instead of green, even while exactly on the route. Maybe someone can look at the screenshot and notice something I am doing wrong. Here I tried going Direct to the next waypoint in the plan but that didn't work either. I have no problem in the non-super model using the exact same imported flightplan and using the GNS530. In the Super 27 the GNS-XLS is the only option. All the other AP modes work fine. thanks
  8. I watched it earlier. Looked more of a clickbait title to get views to me. Among his complaint? When standing 6 inches from the tire it isn’t perfectly round. He is outraged. I think if you don’t like it then don’t plaster your face up against it. I tell YouTube don’t show me any more of this guys videos so now I am no longer bothered.
  9. After using both I can't go back to using 2024. 2020 does almost everything better for me. If I was bush flying I might feel different but for now 2024 is deleted. I will probably check it out again next year.
  10. From the developer: As of this release, MSFS 2024 still has a bug impacting the effective range of exclusion polygons, so you will likely see lights disappear ahead of you and reappear behind you as you fly. MSFS 2020 is not affected by this bug, and the effect can be seen to the horizon. If you wish for this bug to be fixed sooner rather than later, you can politely report the issue on the MSFS Forums so it gets some visibility from the MS/Asobo teams.
  11. It's a 2020 thing also, for me in the FSS727 and ATR42-72
  12. No crashes for me in 2020, but I do have wasm crashes and many other problems with their 727, especially with the Super 27 upgrade. I will stay away from them in the future.
  13. AIG is the best for me, have been using it for many years. This morning at CYYC constant traffic taxiing out and landing.
  14. He was a good one. After a while you learn which tubers to ignore. I block any that take 20-minutes explaining what could be said in 2-minutes, all that have tutorials that include EVERY system test (none of which mean anything), and those that are chatting to everyone during a live stream.
  15. I only used 2024 for a total of about 4 hours over the three times I installed it, but it to me it looked like it only had 3,000 times more geometry than 2020, so maybe my settings were wrong. I plan to try it again in about a year and maybe things will improve by then.
  16. It's buggy in 2020 also with lots of freezes.
  17. When I tried to get outlook email online a couple hours ago I got message about not being able to connect due to azure issue. Haven’t tried since then.
  18. I must be getting too old for msfs. Remind me, have all the previous world updates been through marketplace?
  19. Obviously that is where I was looking, it's where I saw 19- Brazil which I mentioned, and where I got the small update to 1-Japan which I mentioned. Where else would I see these but in the marketplace?
  20. I don't have any World Update 20 listed in FS2020. The last one listed is 19-Brazil. I got a small update to World Update 1 Japan, but that was all.
  21. Which program you use is going to have practically no difference in frames compared to how much traffic you have. If you are looking to save a few frames the only control you have is to limit the amount of traffic. AI traffic is a frames killer and there is no way around that besides turning it off or limiting it.
  22. All of the glass cockpit airliners are soulless to me. Almost everything automated. Not much flying, more FMC tinkering, get bored, stare at some charts. Wake me up when we get there. I’ll take the 727, MD80, or CRJ almost every time. Occasionally enjoy the PMDG 737-700, but looking forward to the 300.
  23. Using AIG in 2020 I don’t see many of these problems. When AI spawn at start the gates come out to greet them at most airports. I almost always see the gears. I see touchdown effects, not always accurate for conditions though. unfortunately MS still is unable to allow AI good logic for taxiing and arrivals. I also miss the days of AFCAD when you could easily edit parking spots, and there were even methods to allow crossing runways in heavy traffic conditions to ease backups. Also there was program in FSX could use to speed up taxiing, for not as many go arounds.
  24. Trying to set up controls in 2024 took several years from my life, and is one reason I decided to stick with 2020 for now. Luckily as I am mostly flying IFR I am very happy with 2020 and don’t see much difference from the newest sim. For VFR I’m sure 2024 is superior but not enough for me.
  25. I live several thousand miles away, but there is a setting in controls to use same keyboard commands as 2020 in 2024. I personally prefer 2020 and uninstalled 2024 so not positive what It’s called, but there is a checkbox in controls-keyboard called something like 2020 regression. Someone using 2024 can probably elaborate.
