I got it from Steam for convenience as far as updates are concerned, and even if it is not needed I prefer to have the sim in the steam "common files" folder rather than in windowsapp (although I read here that the location of the game files is relative )

last thing I chose steam because at the time I also bought the old fsx from there and there were some third-party addons on offer that can be purchased directly from steam (I remember that I took some addon airports and the airbus a320 from areosoft) for this maybe in the future some addons will come out maybe sold directly from the Steam store
