August 16, 20205 yr So I’m planning to go around the world in the Cessna 172 G1000. But am wondering, given all the mentions of FPS hit using the garmin aircraft, would I be better off going VFR in the 150 steam gauges? How many FPS do you lose steam gauges vs LCD displays? im going to be using a gtx1070, i5 7500, 16gb ram. Hoping for between high and ultra settings at 1080p? Is that reasonable do you think?
August 16, 20205 yr The displays won't be so much of a performance hit it's really the number of switches and complex shapes that make up the cockpit that will make the biggest difference. Go and look at videos of someone flying a TBM 950 which is all G1000 displays vs the same person flying a 747 or 787. The TBM gives noticeably better perform despite being 90% displays.
August 16, 20205 yr Practically no noticeable FPS hit from the Garmins. Probably actually more efficient than multiple steam gauges. The KA and Longitude are fantastic panels. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
