August 17, 20205 yr hi! I went thru all the discussion and solution but just couldn't relate one to mine. My problem started with the flight yoke started to get frequently disconnected and suddenly one day it altogether stopped working. I tired: 1. Switching pc and updating drivers 2. Almost all driver related solution Whats working: 1. Only the throttle quadrant with usb port. There is a green light What's not working: 1. The yoke is not being detected in the pc 2. There is intermittent light on the second throttle quadrant with ps/2 connection Hard ware issue: After i opened it, i find the usb connecter chip (SMSC USB2504 <JT) a bit heated. (Picture attached) Cant do: 1. Although i bought it in US , i cant return back at this time to get it replaced or fixed 2.cant install any other board as its not readily available Possible fix 1.will replacing the chip mentioned above fix it ? 2. Is there anyother issue to look into ? 3. My last hope is to use a USB gamelad joystick and follow the process to revive it as mentioned in other posts. I am a trainne pilot and really need this to practice procedures. I am really heart broken at my bad luck. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you. Edit: cant upload images, could you please suggest a hosting site ? Edited August 17, 20205 yr by Choman upload images
August 17, 20205 yr Moderator @Choman, welcome to AvSim. If the yoke is not shown in Devices and Printers in Control Panel then it is almost certainly faulty. It requires no drivers - the standard Windows drivers will detect any Saitek yoke automatically. Did you buy it new? If so contact the retailer for a swap. If you purchased privately then I'm afraid you're probably out of luck unless you purchased through Ebay where there should be customer feedback. Discuss the problem with the seller and see if an agreement can be reached about a refund. If he insists it was fine when he despatched it then unless it was insured in transit you're probably out of luck. Ray (Cheshire, England). August 18, 20205 yr Author @Ray Proudfoot yes I did buy it new, there were a total of 3 units we bought, 2 are working and 1 is not. It was near a year ago and probably out of warranty, even if we did there is no way we can have it replaced as we are from Nepal. I'm trying to salvage the most out of it or have it repaired here which seems highly unlikely. The only soultion so far is to use a gamepad joystick mother board but I'm afraid i wont be able to make use of the throttle quadrant that has a ps2 connecter. Just hoping for the best.
August 18, 20205 yr Moderator @Choman, if it's out of warranty and you're in a different country to where you bought it then unless you can find someone to repair it you're probably out of luck. The throttle quadrant with a PS/2 connector will only work if plugged into the Saitek yoke. I am using 2 Saitek / Logitech USB throttle quadrants which Windows does recognise should you decide to go down that route. Ray (Cheshire, England). August 19, 20205 yr Author @Ray Proudfoot @LesOReilly Thank you gentlemen for your helpful reply. I'm having a technician look into it. He's narrowed it down to a faulty transistor, if successful i will post the result.
October 23, 20205 yr Author @Ray Proudfoot @LesOReilly I have managed to fix it using a $4 usb gamepad. I removed the original board and replaced with the gamepad board. It works as beautifully as the original the down side is the board needs to be switch to analog foe the axis to work. The clock is not working and I never used it anyways so the gree light in the clock serves as a indication that the yoke is now in analog and not in the switch option. One of the red button serves as a on/ orf analogue switch. The process was mostly trial and error. I give all the credit to the original post in one of the forums however, the wire colors and everything were different and i used just 1 part of the board instead of the 2 mentioned in the post. As for the throttle quadrant i replaced it with a frend usb quadrant but its still the same process anyway. Rest, if required I shall post the wiring diagram as I never documented it. If anybody needs help with this. The best part is I can play racing game as well with the yoke! And there is no issue with the dead zone.
October 23, 20205 yr Moderator @Choman, well done for getting it fixed. As for uploading photos they need to be hosted on a separate site. You can then link to them. Ray (Cheshire, England).
