October 28, 200619 yr From what I understood, Microsoft wanted ACES to make SURE that FSX was designed to be, first of all, backward compatible, and that is why we are seeing less feastures that could take advantage of todays hardware, not tomorrows (not sure on this?).However, I see NO BACKWARDS COMPATIBILTY on just about every darned thing out there, and a darned hard time if not impossible to import or heaven forbid, convert ?ARRRGGGHHHAnybody from ACES care to explain?
October 28, 200619 yr I think it's a matter of what you thought were FS2004 models having a heavy dependency on FS98 technology. I didn't realize that. I was sure reminded of it when I tried to import them.Bruce
October 28, 200619 yr Author We'd have to know what area is giving your problems. As pointed out above, much of the aircraft panel issues are due to how much we use FS98 technology. But overall, MS has done a good job of maintaining backwards compatability in this version. Where they have made changes, they have provided tools in many areas for us to use. Some of those tools we choose to not use - such as AI traffic flight plans. There is a major issue with background polygons and photorealistic scenery - one which was known during testing. It was not resolved properly and is causing designers to have to find some inventive workarounds.
October 29, 200619 yr The only backward compatible add-on (and I have quite a few)I have is the wonderful 'Carenado 206 Stationair' and it works perfectly as long as you agree to all the warnings when it is first chosen.Maybe, just maybe somebody within Aces will answer this question more fully eh? October 29, 200619 yr >EXACTLY again there is no backward compatibility it the>emperors new clothes. What part of the above info do you not understand? If they designer followed the FS9 SDK in designing their aircraft, they port over fine. This incluided new XML gauges, not the existing FS98 style.Regards, MichaelKDFW Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI-x16 / AMD Best, Michael KDFW
