Marketplace or Manufacturer website?

Featured Replies

Is there any better place to purchase the current add-ons? I know Orbx says if you already own a previous version of a new release for MSFS you have to buy it on their site to get the discount. What about new products? Is one better than the other for the new products?

Direct from the developer means they get all of the money and can better offer discounts similar to what Orbx is doing. On the other hand, through the built in Marketplace may be easier in terms of managing add-ons, especially re-installing down the road. And if you're at all thinking about running it on an Xbox console, the built-in Marketplace will likely be the only option.

related question, if you dont own the sim can you view the 'marketplace'?  I may make my decision on when to buy based on what is available at the time.

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

I gave up years ago in buying from individual sites and buy everything from Steam or similar platforms. Just so much easier to manage.

I've been unable to find a way Mike and unless i'm missing the complete obvious place I cannot find it anywhere. I'm assuming there may be others who want to know as well so i've created a directory on my website for now showing Marketplace only stuff. Hopefully I can keep it up to date to reflect what is released on there.

I also wonder if MS's enthusiasm for ongoing support of MSFS 2020 might be impacted by purchases through the Marketplace ?

I know they are a huge corporation .. but if they get a % of each sale through the marketplace (rather than nothing if you buy direct from the Manufacturer) do they remain more likely to support ??

Of course the % must be reasonable and leave enough there for manufacturers ..... interesting issue
