Plane has a mind of it's own

Featured Replies

Hi All, I've searched the forum for days and was unable to find.  When I jump into the cockpit at any location in the Cessna 172, the aircrafts is already running.  If I try to shutdown the aircraft, it starts up by itself.  Once I engage ATC, the aircraft goes to the RWY that ATC advise and takes off on it's own.  I have tried changing assist in MSFS to HARD and didn't work.  I have the CH products (which I understand their outdated and have to assign separately.)  The only time I have full control of the aircraft is in Flight training mode, so I know the hardware is working, just not on a regular flight plan.  Any help will be great.  I didn't think that would have been so hard to figure out in a new sim.

Do you have Copilot assists turned on by chance?

Chris

That happened to me. Apparently the sim remembers if you give the copilot controls even if you start a new flight. CTRL+ALT×X will toggle copilot on/off. Pressed that key combo and was able to control the plane myself.

Thank you, thank you.  It works.  I used the CTRL ALT X.  Where would I find this in the settings to keep it off?

Goto Controls, Keyboard, click in assigned block and put in that key combo. It should pop up and you can clear it if you dont want it. Other wise its under Pilot  Assistance....I can't remember it location and I'm at work and unable to check for you.

Thank you Lotharen and Mrfilbert... I was now able to fly over my house.  I can now give some time back to my daughter who always tells me, daddy stop playing video games... (It's not a video game, it's a sim honey.  🙂  )
