Performances : Anisotropic Filtering

Recommended Posts

I noticed that pushing anisotropic filtering mostly don't affect performances, so it can be pushed to 16X. Better images for very low price 🙂

Anisotropic is never especially hard on systems, but it only really helps imaging at oblique angles. So yeah, it's worth having it on high settings without worrying about its overhead, but it won't make everything look better just things like brick wall patterns disappearing into the distance where you might get moire patterns without it.

I have a 1080Ti and I keep it at 2x. Playing at 4k Ultra 30 FPS I want to keep the 2 FPS the 16x setting would cost me.

So if it works out for you fine, but there is a cost to 16x Anisotropic.

Usually I use 4x or 8x in other sims.

The guild says different but if you want to finish of how nice 16x (Runways look a mess with anything less)is then try Texture Supersampling 8x8

Load into a runway you can see a good bit in front of you and see for yourself. I turned it off after reading the guild and thought, no!, I had it on 4x4, but 8x8 was really nice and no FPS hit on 1080x1920

The guild?

And yes, you're right, supersampling at 8X works well and no fps hit with a GTX 1070.

It was linked above Julia.

Glad you tried it and like it. Like wise I am on a 1070.
