Afaik there is no option for the undocking of windows in MSFS 2020...no cockpit view...no instrument views...no overhead views...nothing like we had in fsx...not even able to undock a view to a seperate monitor.

Is this because they have made it ultimately with VR in mind? With VR you don't need different views. The whole cockpit is your view and you just look around.

What do you guys think? Why else would they have left out all the undocking options we had in fsx?

I remember reading a thread a few days ago saying you could undock windows.  Not sure where I read it sorry.  Been reading too much.

Just a wild guess... Because it isn't FSX.

You'll know when the VR version is out due to the lack of posting in the VR forum..other than the odd WOW topic. We will all be too busy flying instead of troubleshooting issues with views.

Hold right ALT+R over the MFD you want to undock. Plus sign will pop up if it's undockable. Overhead views are there also

I don't think it is like that by design. Asobo didn't even consider VR until Alpha started and they got a lot of feed back from the community asking for it.

But you can undock panels. Just hold the right alt key and click on the instrument...it undocks and you can move it anywhere you like, including onto a second screen...

But, yes, there are not full 2D panels in the default aircraft. I think it's because 2D panels are a relic of the days when graphics were not very good. FS started with only 2D panels...graphics improved and the VC was introduced, but it was of low quality because the graphics technology wasn't there yet. By P3D we had better and better VCs, and by P3D v4, almost nobody used 2D panels anymore. I know some did and still do, and they're valuable for multi-screen setups, but 95%+ of users are living in the VC as far as I can tell. Asobo probably just thought, who would want a 2D panel in this day and age...
