OH well I suppose I missed him he does not answer his phone meaning he has returned FSX to FutureshopHe is not a country flyer, he wanted to fly the 747 into the big cities, is about all he does with FS9.allen

Does he have FS2004? I really agree with you, for that PC and most others FS-X is not a good only flight sim choice. Its of interest to those with loaded FS2004 setups and want to try something new.FS2004 - great frame rates, lots of free mesh, planes, etc to install, should get decent to excellent performance all round. Nice payware like UT USA / Canada, FSGenesis mesh to end up with great visuals.FS-X - 2nd best to above choices except in the rare scenarios.MS offers 45 day refunds in US and Canada, so all it not lost if you install it.

He has been using FS9 for a year. With acceptable results. He read the "back of the FSX box" and thought it would work fine on his machine....he wanted the eye candy and better scenery/textures.It runs almost OK on mine, but I am not that happy, I will have to upgrade (I have P4-3,2G / 2G parallel RAM / X850XT, but he has my old computer, with the 9800-pro)

If he is unwilling to compromise, play with the sliders, install different autogen textures or eliminate autogen altogether then he may have a hard time. Only you may know how far this 'kid' is willing to go and what ultimately will please him.Michael J.

He has a 2.4G Intel with 1,5G RAM / ATI 9800 prowill he get at least flyable countryside stuff with some autogen?Card is what I used (basically) in FS2002. So, card will have problems. Processor is at the very low end for this incarnation but good ram.Sorry, based on your specs it would be best that he stuck with FS9 with all the addons. You would need to turn autogen off, water effects low and default and likely lower on everything else. Would not look like a boned up FS9 by a country mile.
