Firstly, I took off to find the beautiful turquoise water / reefs in the Bahamas, which are quite scarce I hear.

I took off from Nassau, Lynden Pindling International Airport (MYNN), then you have to fly due east towards Rose Island.

I saw the reefs / shallow water, and although there was a bit of a colour change, I wasn't too impressed.

Then I realised I had 'scattered clouds' set and it was quite dull.

When I picked 'few clouds' - Wow!  The colours suddenly came to life and jumped out at me - beautiful!  And even more vivid with the 'clear sky's' setting.

This just shows you how much effect the lighting model has.

Secondly, there is a great weather pack out at Nexusmods - they seem to have lots of goodies for MSFS at the moment.

It can be a 'word not allowed' to find the install folder, but once they are in, they are great.  The tropical storm is a blast!  The guy has tweaked some settings beyond the slider values, so the rain is just like a monsoon!

You have to scroll down in the preset weather menu to find them afterwards (I thought they hadn't gone in at first).  Blizzard, fog, freezing conditions, there are lots in there and very well done.  It shows what the weather engine can do.

Tropical storm in the C152 was genuinely scary! 😄

The file name at nexusmods is 'More Interesting Weather Presets'.  Even the subtle ones like 'Spring Rain' are well done.

Thirdly.  I tried VFRMap a while ago and didn't like it.  It is now up to version 0.0.7, and it has really moved on.  I am using it again now as some of the things I didn't like have been addressed, and no stutter now simconnect is fixed. 👍

It really is worth a look as it is a much better VFR map than the in-built one.  I set it up and Alt-tab to it, and Alt-tab back to the sim, as I don't know how to get it in sim yet, but this system works fine - it is instant.

Spelling - Change 'goolies' to 'goodies'. Funny to Brits!

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

very cool, I have the prior version of VFR MAP but this one I cant get "Failed - Virus detected".  Too bad as it looks like a good update.  I can get the 'source code' folder but have no idea what to do with it.  Maybe the next update will allow downloads, will wait and see.  Thanks

Yes, strange.  Windows says it is not a trusted app, but I just override it.

I have ESET anti-virus and that doesn't complain about it at download.  I just directly scanned the file with it also, and it says clean.  It seems it is just windows and/or whatever anti-virus you have giving a a false positive I think.

The installation folder for all MSFS 2020 add-ons so far seems to be the same Community folder.

If you add it to your Quick Access list in File Explorer, then you will never have to search for it again.
