Yeah, it's real: EMP - Experience Music Project. Paul Allen's dedication to Jimi Hendrix.

Also contains a Sci-Fi museum, Star Trek, Flash Gordon, old sci-fi movie memorbilia, etc. I visited there last year when embarking on a cruise to Alaska. Cool!!

You're right. I went over to the website to see what it looks like, and it actually looks like a bunch of hot-air balloon enthusiasts crashed landed on someone's roof!Odd architecture, but pretty cool looking.
