September 16, 20205 yr What are your tips for landing an A320? It flies like a brick and is very difficult to get a descent landing. How do you get a smooth landing out of it? How do you reduce the ground roll? I haven’t been able to get thrust reversers to work i did figure out how to set the auto-throttle control to the final approach speed of 140 kts and that helps.
September 16, 20205 yr I have no idea how to make it land without dramatically dipping its wings left or right. A normal vref speed for a medium laden a320 would be in the ballpark of 140ish knots. Doing a 145 knots on the approach is fine, but the airbus has a special flare logic that asobo has botched. I dont know what it is, but the nose is supposed to rotate down to counter act the tendency of pilots to pull back on the flare. Instead, what happens in the sim is that the nose becomes increasingly wobbly the close to the ground you get (speed staying constant), and the wing dips mostly to the left (dramatically, like you would crash from it) and responds to full counter inputs like it's completely drunk. I am going to test and see if a higher vref speed will help. Maybe try a vref of 150 to see if you have more command of the pitch and roll during the flare. September 16, 20205 yr I have no problems at all with manual, auto land however is problematic at some airports, it seems much to high on final and floats. Manual landing the bus is fine. let's see what the update brings. Thrust reverse can be found in controls, just set a button on your keyboard or joystick/throttle. I have no problem hand flying and landing the A320. Check your sensitivity settings.
September 16, 20205 yr The flare logic I believe is set to the wrong axis. It does full left aileron instead of trying to do nose down. Very frustrating. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
