September 25, 20205 yr I had the clever idea of replacing the default textures for trees with colorful ones so I can experience a proper New England autumn, but when I go to open these I get the following error - "Unsupported compression (827611204) in BMP". I've tried opening these files with multiple graphic editors, but no joy. Most of the texture files in fs-base directory open fine, but trees and a few others do not. Does anyone have an idea as to why?

It's pretty generic ... so it works for FSX, P3D etc. https://www.mwgfx.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm Are the files you're having difficulty with BMP or DDS files? If you give me an example filename and path, I'll see if I can open it on my system.

September 25, 20205 yr DXT2BMP appears to read it fine. You may need to research some tutorials on how to edit and resave using DXT2BMP and whatever GFX editor you use.

September 26, 20205 yr Author Thank you gentlemen. I will try both of these when time allows. I had hoped to do a quick and simple "open and close" edit, but it looks like it will be a bit more work than that. Strange that only some textures are locked away behind this extra layer. Anyway, I may have more questions when I sit down and attempt this. My goal is to implement Fall, Winter, and Spring in my home state by changing the tree textures. It won't be perfect (the ground will still be green), but it might just be enough!
