October 5, 20205 yr Gusts are a real pain when gliding in MSFS - to get good ridge lift you need a good wind and MSFS insists on a minimum of 50% gust speed, so a 20Kt wind gusts to 30 which isn't too relaxing.. The UI for winds insists on a minimum of 50% but you can just DELETE the gust speed, don't put in 0 as this will get changed back to 50%. The rightmost variometer shows the impact of wind gusts, with constant flickering, until the gusts are turned off. Quick video on youtube showing process and results - Watch the rest of my gliding channel whilst you are there, especially Snowdonia summit 🙂 Cheers Keith ...

October 5, 20205 yr Just 2 questions: 1- I like gusts. Gusts are part of life, no gusts no life. 2- Where did you get that glider? I'm eager to get one and I can't. It seems a port from P3d of one made by Wolgang P., judging on the not working GPS. Edited October 5, 20205 yr by Claudius_ Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).
October 5, 20205 yr Author https://www.aerosoft.com/en/flight-simulation/flight-simulator-x/aircraft/145/discus-glider-x You have to import it into MSFS yourself. Agreed gusting is 'normal', but Asobo mandate an unreasonably high level of gusts...and some say their implementation is broken... October 5, 20205 yr Author Quote 1- I like gusts. Gusts are part of life, no gusts no life. To get gusts of less than 50% but more than 0% could be done with a custom weather preset file, but all the ones I create are ignored, even though almost identical to the ones in the More_Interesting_Weather_Presets freeware...has anyone any thoughts on why that may be? Thanks Keith ...
