I can with render scaling 200 make the FPS plunge with a lot of stutter which make sense as it draw at much higher resolution. Or marking CPU bottleneck with low render scaling.

But Terrain LOD between 10 (41 FPS) and 200 (34 FPS) do not change the GPU bottleneck and do not induce stutters. It still limited by GPU as with terrain LOD 100. So resolution or render scaling is much more drastic in shifting the bottleneck from GPU to CPU than LOD.

some more details: Circling Over Billy Bishop Toronto, King Air. Cloudy weather.

terrain LOD 200 : 34 FPS, Mainthread 19 ms, GPU 25 ms (GPU limited).

terrain LOD 100 : 40 FPS, Mainthread 15 ms, GPU 24 ms (GPU limited)

terrain LOD 10 : 41 FPS, Mainthread 10 ms, GPU 22 ms (GPU limited)

We see that GPU rendering time does not vary much while CPU diminish drastically by 50% between 200 and 10.

Object LOD at 200 gives me a tie between CPU and GPU bottleneck with bout at 20 ms about. Occasional stutter at 200.

What CPU do you got ?

I7 6700K that I run overclocked at 4.5 Ghz. In the scenario over Toronto, it run on 8 core (hyperthread on) at about 65% loading. Unless some other on the web that observe only 4 cores used, I found that most time the load is spread almost evenly on the 8 cores. Maybe 2 or 3 have a 10% to 20% more load than others but none peak to 100% with my setting (High in general but some at Medium and others at Ultra).
