Can a flight plan be loaded into MSFS complete with SID/STAR

Recommended Posts

In LNL 2.6.2 Beta, is it possible to create an IFR flight plan complete with SID and STAR procedures and have it load directly into MSFS?

Yes. But LNM cannot read SID and STAR from the MSFS navdata since Asobo changed the BGL format and provides zero documentation about this.

You have to use SID and STAR from the Navigraph database.

Keep in mind that MSFS flight plan handling is seriously flawed which I cannot fix. Quite often plans do not load or do load only partially without any indication why.

So its best to leave SID/STAR out of the flight plan and then just enter them manually inside the sim? Would you recommend this?

MSFS will recalculate the route if you select a SID or STAR in the sim.

Best recommendation I can give is: Install the Navigraph beta navdata update if you have a subscription to keep LNM and Navdata in sync. Then you can select procedures in LNM and MSFS (most likely) loads them without issues.

Sorry to hear that this doesnt work  - as it is a major drawback.

Your suggestion is to subscribe to navigraph.

I understand that MSFS2020 is updated using navigraph in combination with patches.

I however do not understand what AIRAC is currently used - do you know how to find out in oder to align with navigrapch updata in LNM ??

Any hopes to be able to download SID/STAR from MSFS2020 to LNM in the future?

Hi @UrkMan,

you can see the cycle in the Navigraph update tool or look at the manifest.json in navigraph-navdata.
LNM shows the Navigraph AIRAC cycle in the scenery library menu. But that's only for the LNM database and X-Plane. I cannot extract a cycle from the BGL files. No idea what NavBlue delivers there.

Regarding SID and STAR: Working on it. No idea how long this will take. For sure less effort if the BGL file changes would be documented by Asobo.
