October 26, 20205 yr This topic is exciting stuff...(and, to say the least, dangerous, in the RW).... BTW, I hope and pray that no RW Nepalese Pilot is reading this post....🙂....(SIM daredevils trying to land in Lukla with A320 and C-130)....🙂...though, looks like, someone, here, has successfully managed it with the Hercules, both, sneaking in and out....🙂... I read, "...Only helicopters and small fixed-wing propellor planes are permitted to land due to the Mountainous terrain that surrounds the Lukla airport..." If interested, please search for "taking off from Lukla"...videos...in the first clip (1m:25s), I get, I like the Captain taking a sip of Coffee, before barrelling down the sloped runway...You might also need a cup of coffee, in the SIM, especially when taking off with a C-130 Hercules...🙂... (BTW, if you have the LLH Courchevel (I know a few of us, here, do), you might notice that the Lukla Rwy uniformly slopes down, but, Couchevel has a flat top and then a steep gradient down to the edge, both Rwys/Airports are consistently rated as two of the most dangerous airports in the world...) And, these Lukla Airport add-on screenshots, here, look wonderful....some of the best I've seen in the SIM...!! [Bernd: Regarding your earlier (Kathmandu -> Paro) post: yes I'd recollected that it was you...but wished you to state it here...🙂...btw, that was an interesting post, with bits of great en-route scenery too...]

My pics from the A320 to Lukla, it was just for shooting with an A320 🙂 I'm gonna try to fly from Jomson to Simikot on an A320 of course. Let's be crazy 😁 I will try during my trip to fly over everest. I still haven't tested yet. It will be majestic for sure!! Edited October 27, 20205 yr by Schwarzgruber

Let's be crazy 😁 I will try during my trip to fly over everest. I still haven't tested yet. It will be majestic for sure!! Yes, I could gather that A320 at Lukla was a "Photo-op"....🙂...look at that A320 taking up most of the apron space at Lukla and blocking off access to the only runway...🙂....(but, agree, the Nepal Airlines livery, looks perfect fit, in these pictures...).... BTW, to supplement your 2 pictures from Lukla, I posted 3 (old) screenshots of mine (with a DHC-6) for comparison...(Of course, your pictures look so much better, probably the best of Lukla, I've seen in the SIM...) In your first screenshot, the entrance to the Lukla runway (06/24; 24 for takeoff and 06 for touchdown) is just near the left wing of your A320... Also, I put your ambitious...🙂...(proposed) flightplan from Jomsom (VNJS) to Simikot (VNST) on the below (shown) MAP. Simikot is 123 nm (as the crow flies) northwest of Jomsom. Kathmandu, shown at the center of the MAP, is 108nm southeast of Jomsom. And, Lukla, not shown on the MAP, is 73 nm directly east of Kathmandu. Everest, I believe, is about 25 miles north of Lukla. Runway Data: Jomsom (VNJS): [06/24, Asphalt / 2,006 ft] Simikot (VNST): [10/28, Asphalt / 2,133 ft] So, these Rwys are (clearly) bit short for your A320...🙂....However, I believe MSFS has plenty of small (but nice) aircraft power....so, you may try one of those, instead,... [Finally, the VNJS/VNST Add-on scenery pictures in your provided link....look really wonderful...considering they are such tiny and unknown airports tucked in the middle of nowhere...amazing...!] Good-luck and have fun...!!

Your pics are FSX or P3D? I tried and i didn't succeed. At the same time, it made sense. On the other hand, i took off from Lukla with a Cessna C208 while flying in the direction of Jomson.

Thought, I'd mentioned in my comment, but, sorry, didn't.... these are from FSX/SE with Aerosoft Twin Otter and Aerosoft Lukla.... Very nice pictures along with the Cessna Caravan...! Enjoy...but keep a lookout for those treacherous mountains en-route....!!

For connecting Lukla Jomson, it was not easy with all these mountains and Everest.

These flights cannot be easy...at least, there are nice airport scenery, here, to try it with....and we can get better with practice.... For example, here is the video clip of a short 40 nm (RW) flight in the Tara Air Twin Otter (same plane as in my pictures above)...from Jomsom to Pokhara (40 miles south of Jomsom)... Search: "Flight from Jomsom Airport to Pokhara video" [5m:41s] Notice the brilliant sun over the mountain tops during take off, and the approach/landing, having to nearly scrape the house roof-tops, right to the edge of the runway threshold... Also, the co-ordination between the two Pilots for the "overhead" throttle controls of the Twin Otter, I found interesting...!

It's a beautiful place to fly over in the sim! what's also good is that there're free mods that you can download from Nepal. I shared the link above with you. Check on flightsim.to

Check on flightsim.to Hi Schwarzgruber: If you search by the keywords "Flight from Jomsom Airport to Pokhara video", you will see several results, the first one of which is Titled, "Flight from Jomsom Airport to Pokhara in HD". Due to some reason, the link is giving me an error now...but, you can easily locate it on the search-results...please let me know... This is the (5m:41s) clip for which I made the comments above. Note the location of Pokhara Airport on my MAP, ~35 nms south of Jomsom. And, btw, the DHC-6 seems like (or, at least, used to be) the "Go To" aircraft for Tara Air. But, you can try one of the many other aircraft available to you. I posted 4 shots of Tara Air (AS/Twin Otter) below, at Lukla. Enjoy..! I have also provided one shot of the SIM's overhead Throttle controls on one of the screenshots. This is what the 2 Pilots of the (RW) <Jomsom-Pokhara> video, above, are (jointly) manipulating throughout the flight. Please note the curiosity of the overhead Throttles being located off-center towards the Pilot side, so the Copilot, must reach out more (long arms needed...🙂...) to reach these controls...which is what the Copilot seems to be doing, often, in the video, although the Captain seems to be taking back control, at times, a gentle tap, on the hand, does it...🙂... And, yes, I did look into your link above. I see (Jomsom/Dolpha-Juphal/Simikot) Airport sceneries there...(very nice)...! I am keenly interested in this region, and, so, curious, what you folks are finding here in MSFS. The surrounding textures, outside of these add-on Airports, is what will make a large difference to the flying experience in this region...unlike what I have now, in FSX, i.e. just a couple of localized airport scenery...and nothing much outside of it, for any kind of realism... Good and safe flight...!! Edited October 29, 20205 yr by P_7878
