October 23, 20205 yr Great to see these shots! Made a recent video about landing at Lukla, Nepal! Beautiful landscape! Latest video at The Flight Level Flight Over Frozen Lake Erie - Between Ice and Clouds - Ultimate Solitude - The Perfect Memory
October 24, 20205 yr Lovely pictures.....!! The airport building details in your last-but-one shot are so crisp and clear....very nice...!! [Many moons ago, I had visited Kathmandu once...In the recent past, a colleague, around here, from Nepal, had even taught me a smattering of Nepalese...🙂....]

I try to do my best to have better FPS! I like this country without having been there! I know only Everest 😁

I know only Everest 😁 Yes, my single (long-past) visit was an event for the lifetime, and is not going to happen again. As I recall, in Kathmandu, I had found myself trying to get a Tara Air (Do-228 or DHC-6...?) flight to Lukla, but, it never materialized due to bad weather....(So, in my "fantasy" SIM world, I got myself a Carenado Do-228 and Aerosoft Lukla, managed a landing...and had to console myself....🙂...) In Kathmandu, I was told one could see Mount Everest from certain vantage points, and someone, had actually pointed it out to me, but frankly, I could only see a series of almost equal height snow-capped mountains, far-off, and cannot claim I could tell it apart. Imagine this fact, the Himalayas have over fifty mountains exceeding 23,600' and over ten mountains above 26,000'. Combination of sheer unimaginable heights...in a single region...! I was looking a bit on-line, just now, and if you're interested, you may search for, "Climbing" Mt. Everest with Buddha Air to be led to a 5m:11s video (there are many others, too). In this video, don't miss a plane of same livery, i think, as (your) Nepal Airlines, at 0m:52s, inside the hangar, in front of the other plane...And, per this video, the Buddha Air Beechcraft 1900D, in this tour, went up to 25,000' (4,000' below) in the vicinity of the 29,000' Mt. Everest. Interestingly, I just read that the Beechcraft 1900 has a Service ceiling also of 25,000 ft...! Of course, these Nepalese Pilots are tough ones, and know their way around these (treacherous) Mountains of Nepal...(unfortunately, accidents do occur sometimes...)... Here's what Lukla/Tenzing–Hillary Airport Wiki says about the Pilots flying into e.g. Lukla: "Due to the difficulties of successfully landing at the airport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal sets high standards, according to which only experienced pilots, who have completed at least 100 short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) missions, have over one year of STOL experience in Nepal, and have completed ten flights into Lukla with a certified instructor pilot, are allowed to land at the airport." Well...aren't we glad we are merely playing "Everest" Pilot in our (imaginary) SIM world....🙂...? Anyway, have you explored Mount Everest in the SIM, yet...? How do they look and compare with RW...? [BTW, I recall, a while ago, there was a post, between the same two airports, as here, "Kathmandu to Paro", by another member...in XP11, though...and in a (heavy) IL-76...🙂...(Paro is tough to land into, for sure...!)]....

Very cool read as my second last video was flying into Lukla. I plan to continue a ForeFlight VFR flight to Mt Everest from Lukla in a slower a/c than the TBM. So many places to visit in this new SIM. Latest video at The Flight Level Flight Over Frozen Lake Erie - Between Ice and Clouds - Ultimate Solitude - The Perfect Memory

October 26, 20205 yr Very nice shots, thanks for sharing. An A320 at Lukla...I did that once in P3D with a C 130 Hercules. 😃 Question is, can you get out again, with the Herc you can 😉😉 On 10/25/2020 at 5:35 AM, P_7878 said: [BTW, I recall, a while ago, there was a post, between the same two airports, as here, "Kathmandu to Paro", by another member...in XP11, though...and in a (heavy) IL-76...🙂...(Paro is tough to land into, for sure...!)]....
