My concern is that they would need to go back and modify the models, since most don't have the doors as separate objects, and this would potentially break all of the liveries since the uv mapping would change.

The models can be imported into blender. For most of the props, the doors are just impressions on the fuselage, I think the TBM is the only exception, though I haven't checked every aircraft.

Oh ok, but i though we could not import them. Can we edit the models or are they just "read only"?
