October 27, 20205 yr Moderator I have had FSDT Geneva for many years and whilst it integrates pretty well in P3Dv4.5 the airport is on a plateau compared to the surrounding area. The difference is just over 100ft. I opened the AFCAD file using ADE but with the free version the airport altitude is not editable. Is still a problem that could be fixed with the Pro Key version? October 27, 20205 yr Ray, I'm just a rank amateur when it comes to messing about with ADE so please forgive me if you've already covered this. When you open the airport can you go to the tools drop down menu and select 'change airport reference data' where a revised altitude can be entered. In your example reduce the actual field elevation by 100 feet? You might have to draw a ground polygon around the airport and tag it with 'Flatten mask class map exclude autogen'. Then compile it, save it and use the generated ADEX bgl files rather than the original ones.. Good luck, sir! 🍻 Mark Robinson Part-time Ferroequinologist Author of FLIGHT: A near-future short story (ebook available on amazon) I made the baby cry - A2A Simulations L-049 Constellation Sky Simulations MD-11 V2.2 Pilot. October 27, 20205 yr Author Moderator Hi Mark, You clearly know more than me, thanks. But in the Airport Properties the altitude can’t be changed. That’s why I thought it would need the Pro Key version. Ray (Cheshire, England). October 27, 20205 yr Author Moderator Mark, ignore my last post. I didn't read your post properly. I have found the altitude field. It's 1410.991 whereas the surrounding area shows 1340 on the info top-left in the sim. I shall proceed carefully as the original remains untouched. Thanks! Ray (Cheshire, England). October 27, 20205 yr Author Moderator I clearly haven't a clue what I'm doing. Despite following your instructions it now looks like this. Perhaps I should just stick with the original. Correct altitude ( Navigraph Dec-19 charts ) for the airport is 1411 ft, so our scenery is correct. What I can see in your screenshot, is airport objects that don't belong to our scenery mixed in so, perhaps you have a conflicting airport that, in addition to be conflicting, has the wrong altitude set as well. The most common cause of conflicts are AFCAD files supplied with AI Traffic product, or perhaps another scenery for the airport you installed long ago and forgot about that. October 27, 20205 yr Author Moderator Hi @virtuali, thanks for your post. I used Addon Organizer to generate a temporary scenery.cfg that includes all my scenery - addons and conventional - and scanned it with Simple Airport Scanner. There were two LSGG entries - one being your original which I restored replacing mine - and one in Ultimate Terrain Europe X. I loaded the UT-X software and disabled LSGG. After restarting P3D a new scenery index was generated but the plateau problem remains. This is the other scenery I have which may be responsible:- Orbx FTX Global FS Global Ultimate Ultimate Terrain X Europe If I disable the Europe entry of FS Global Ultimate the cliff disappears. See below. So it's this enhanced mesh that's causing the problem. Any ideas on how best to solve it? Ray (Cheshire, England). October 27, 20205 yr Author Moderator In the case containing the DVDs for FS Global there is one with a utility for flattening terrain around airports. I'd forgotten all about it. I'm going to read the manual and attempt to create a file to overcome this problem at Geneva. More later... Ray (Cheshire, England). October 27, 20205 yr Author Moderator Success! Using the Pilot's Aerodrome Flattening utility had a couple of issues as I bought it when FSX was around. But creating a folder for scenery.cfg sorted it and I added the entry manually to my scenery.cfg. Result is a nicely blended airport perimeter with the surrounding terrain. First time I've done this and it's very easy to generate the file. Umberto, the airport itself looks fine too. 👍👍 Ray (Cheshire, England).
