October 31, 20205 yr I am confused by the autopilot options. First there is ai control, then there is ai co pilot and then there is autopilot. I would like to know what the difference is. i have been reading posts and when someone asks about the autopilot functions, they get different answers on the options. I'm getting confused as to which option they are talking about. For me, I would just like to watch a plane fly from airport to airport and not have to control anything and just let it "fly". What is the best option or setting to do this?
October 31, 20205 yr If you really don't want to have any input in the plane's flight other than selecting its flightplan, then it's AI control you want. Once you are in the cockpit, use the dropdown menu to select the pilot's hat and turn all 3 options to AI control. You can then use the camera view(s) of your choice to watch the flight. But just be aware that the AI landing programming isn't perfect - your aircraft may land of the runway and potentially worse! Oh, and set the autopilot settings (Flight Director, Nav, etc) and activate the Autopilot once in the air because the AI probably won't do that and will just continue in a straight line from the runway. October 31, 20205 yr Author ok, going to try that but how do you set the autopilot settings because the problem is my planes just fly straight for hours and never follow the path. i think you may have really helped me but it's late so I will try tomorrow. Thanks in advance.
November 1, 20205 yr Author So I have had somewhat of a success but something is not right. Here is what I did. I started on a runway with all ai control options checked and the plane took off just fine. When I was in the air I had to turn of the ai control otherwise I could not select NAV, AP or HDG. The plane did follow the flight path using the cockpit controls but then flew right past the airport. I clicked on the ai control setting and the plane turned back towards the airport but also flew by and crashed. I think the takeoff and flying worked but the landings did not. What did I do wrong because I thought it was working right but then a crash at the end wrecked everything.
November 1, 20205 yr Seriously why do you want the play this game full auto? Kinda defeats the purpose of simulating being a pilot. But whatever to each their own,, There are a multitude of videos on youtube explaining how to use the autopilot,
