nVidia control panel settings with MSFS2020

Featured Replies

I have a RTX2080Ti with a 4K monitor. I’ve got the latest drivers and have graphics settings in the sim set to essentially the “high” settings. FPS are usually fine.

What I’m confused about are what settings need to be set in the nVidia control panel. Some app specific settings for FS2020 show using the global setting, some show to let the app control, and some are turned off.

My question is what settings should be turned on globally vs set to use the app settings. And which should just be turned off.

I haven’t set any of them manually, so not sure if nVidia set them to their view of optimal.

Any help or insights or best practices would be appreciated.

If your 4K monitor can do 30Hz, then that is the first asset I would exploit along w/ setting VSYNC rate to 60 in MSFS.  The second thing would be to set Low Latency Mode to Ultra--this bought roughly 12-15% decrease in GPU utilization, however I am able to use vsync to 30Hz, and this may be required to get the benefit of this option.  Setting LOD Load Bias to Clamp improved some aspects of the pixelated odd looking cloud edges in in MSFS.   Otherwise use the Global option so that the sim settings are in command of other elements of your GPU driver setup.

It can do 30Hz, but the monitor is a G-Sync monitor. Setting it to 30Hz is defeating the purpose.

I see your point though I'm not sure G-Sync as a feature is really as important as it may seem in the context of a civil aviation sim like P3D or MSFS.  One of the reasons vsync to 30Hz works is based on the premise that in a civilian flight sim a steady frame rate of 30 is sufficient to please most people, especially ones not operating under the assumption a frame rate over 30 is always better.   I'd rather see the CPU not dedicating cycles to generating frames over 30/second.
