November 9, 20205 yr Hi - Just downloaded the trial and have used it for 2 days now. A few annoying glitches. I am using FS2020. I followed all the steps to turn off FS2020 ATC, voices, etc. Flying KJAC to KDEN all was well until I got close to Denver. Approach handed me off to Tower. Tower clears to 34L, but the Comm freq automatically switches back to Approach. Approach again says contact Tower on xxx.xx. I can see the freq change, co-pilot gets contact, cleared to 34L again. But freq goes back to APP. This is an endless loop. Below Comm and STBY I can see the assigned freq. But Comm keeps going back to Approach freq. Here is a very short YouTube video showing the glitch - https://youtu.be/zcU_UYyxR1w Clicking on the Comm/STBY brings up the Comm radio in the background. Hovering over Pilot2ATC in the taskbar shows it open, but the only way to make it appear is too select 'maximize' and then it is full screen versus a small window. I could not resize it since it was in maximized format. Once I shut down FS2020 suddenly the Comm window acted like it should. The next issue is I tried to re-open Pilot2ATC after closing it, but I get a pop up warning indicating a version is already running. Using Task Manager to look at open programs shows that Pilot 2ATC is not open. The only way to use it again is to shut down everything and reboot the PC. Very time consuming. Pilot2ATC seems like it could be a good program, but with the issues I am seeing I do not think it is FS2020 friendly right now. Any suggestions? Thanks
November 9, 20205 yr Commercial Member On the first issue, there are some aircraft in all SIMs that resist having their frequencies changed in P2A. This can be fixed by changing frequencies in the aircraft and letting P2A pick up the change. Since it apparently is only happening to you on the one change from Approach to Tower, that sounds more like MSFS is still trying to control the frequency. I would double check that the AI Assistance is turned off for ATC. The disappearing window is a Windows "phantom window issue". Here's how to fix it for the Comm popup: 1) After pressing the Stby Com Freq, Hover over the P2A icon on the Taskbar. There should be multiple windows and one is the Radio Freq window 2) Hover over that window and a larger thumbnail of the window should show 3) Right-click that larger thumbnail 4) Select Move 5) Hold down the Right Arrow key on the keyboard until the program comes into view 6) If that doesn’t work, hold down the left arrow 7) Once the window is in view, use the mouse to move it to the desired location.😎 Shut down Pilot2ATC so the location will be remembered. The last issue is likely caused by an error or abnormal termination of Pilot2ATC. It should not be a constantly recurring thing. When shutting down: Be sure to disconnect from the SIM Shut down FSUIPC7 Then Shut down Pilot2ATC Dave
November 10, 20205 yr Author Thanks for the reply. I will try the 'move' option on the Comm window scenario. I did not know I had to disconnect at the end. I will try that next time...after today since I just closed it without disconnecting, lol. When using Pilot2ATC I do not see that it actually changes the frequency displayed in the aircraft. The radio always shows 124,85 I believe, but it definitely is not changing as Pilot2ATC changes. Should I see the frequency change inside aircraft? So today the airplane image did not show up on the moving map in Pilot2ATC. If I hit center on aircraft, all I saw was a red plus sign, but it would not move and follow route. If I hit center again, the + sign moved again.
November 10, 20205 yr Commercial Member Some aircraft don't allow external programs to change the frequencies, so that is likely the issue. This is not a bug in P2A. If you don't see the yellow aircraft when you press connect, you need to disconnect and reconnect. If the yellow aircraft is not visible, you are not fully connected. This often happens if you try connecting when the SIM is paused or not fully up and running with you in the cockpit. Dave
