RXP GNS430 - CDI needle moveable in VLOC but not GNSS

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to RealityXP but have built up a sim to help keep my real life IFR skills sharp. I am running realityXP GNS430 on a Propwashsim PWS530 panel, which apart from the incorrect screen dimensions works very well. I am also using the PWS rotary encoder panel which has Heading/OBS knobs etc to control the rotary inputs on the gauges on my air manager panel.

Herein lies the issue I'm having - the CDI needle on the HSI works as expected when I've got the 430 in VLOC mode. I can spin the OBS knob and see the resultant turning of the CDI, and deviations as expected. However, I when I have the 430 in GNSS mode the OBS needle doesn't turn the CDI, it reverts back a previous direction. Navigation is correct, I just can't spin the CDI to match the actual course i'm flying, or any other direction I would like it to point to!

I know this is not the behaviour I see in the real aircraft, so am finding this a frustration. I appreciate I'm using a number of different programs (Xplane 11.5, air Manager 3.7 (I believe), as well as the latest RealityXP 430 and current database from my garmin subscription), but I'm hoping this is an easy fix that I'm just not aware of.

Cheers, Jayson

Which aircraft? I have this same issue using the Carenado T210 and the RXP G530 and was never able to resolve the issue.  The only partial fix was with a flightplan loaded, CDI - GPS and autoslew selected in RXP settings which is not my preference preferred.

I'm using a Cessna 402C I've downloaded from XPlane.org. I haven't played with Autoslew, will have to have a look at that.

You can configure the GNS with a convenience feature "Auto-Slew" which is updating the CDI COURSE to the DTK when it changes (only when it changes). Anything blocking the CDI COURSE from moving is not related to the GNS otherwise, but either XP11 own logic or another plugin, or you're sending the wrong command or writing the wrong dataref otherwise. You can cross check this easily in using the keyboard shortcut to adjust the CDI COURSE and validate whether it is working for example.

It might be something related to the aircraft configuration itself (as seen in plane maker). There are some features like this which are having a corresponding "enhancement mode" (like auto deploy spoilers for example).
