December 8, 20205 yr So, I’ve switched back to FSX:SE for some of my OnAir flying, and as part of that I got a MilViz Beaver. Many landings go fine, but more than once (and more importantly, several times in an OnAir leg therefore), the tail of the aircraft seems to “fall through” the ground as I land. Sometimes it’s after a bounce, other times not, but when it happens the aircraft points straight up, half embedded in the ground, and registers as a crash. Irritating in general, but suuuuuuuper frustrating when trying to get OnAir flight tracking credit ... Is this a well-known problem in FSX, or with this aircraft or a/c type?
December 8, 20205 yr Author My leading theory: I am out of practice “reading” the airport textures in FSX - I’m used to the better graphics of MSFS 2020 now, plus I’m landing on Alaskan bush strips that are mostly just white - and I’m breaking the rear gear from hitting it too hard, which - I now read - manifests as the plane falling through the runway. Does this sound like the most likely cause?
December 10, 20205 yr Commercial Member Probably something like that , landing on terrain is sketchy at best. If it is a dirt strip with an AFCAD it shouldn't do that. Edited December 10, 20205 yr by Slayer68 Steve 'Slayer' McNitt Quality Assurance
