Activesky P3D and popping weather?

Featured Replies

I might be doing something wrong. I might have some setting the wrong way. But if you guys and gals can; please give me some advice in this issue I am about to describe:

Using Activesky P3D and flying in P3D I have the following issue: in the AS-app I can clearly see that 50ish NM ahead of me the weather is absolutely raining not only cats and dogs but other creatures as well. In front of me in P3D I have no hint of this what so ever. Clear skies; birds chirping happily and Satchmo himself singing about "Wonderful worlds" with me humming along. Then all of the sudden the world in P3D feels like updating and *BAM* I have full cloud coverage beneath me (thankfully the weather was way below me).

How can this utterly atrocious situation be rectified? I have no feeling that I am about to fly into crappy weather. It just.. pops in...? Surely there must be some setting I can switch on to get this weather front depicted in front of me?

Are you using EA?  If so, you won't be able to see the WX around you with that as it is currently a limitation (only displays the WX globally) but Hifi does a decent job of slowing the transitions.  Hopefully it continues to improve.  If you are not using EA...then hmm...not sure.  I always had nice smoothing with Hifi/Asca and you could in fact see WX systems out ahead of you.

Ah! I think that might be it. I have done a quick test and it sure looks better! Will have to try some more before the final verdict though.
