help reinstalling digital purchase on new drive

Featured Replies

I've given up trying to fix my original corrupted msf2020 installation.  So I've formatted a new drive and logged into the microsoft store.  It shows the purchase and that I "own" it, but I have no idea how to get the store to download the program.  Does anyone have experience with this ?

I am cautiously optimistic that the store is finally downloading the sim again.  Not sure what happened.  I kept logging in and out of account and pressing install and its finally started..   last time I did this the download took several hours.  We'll see.......

No joy....whatever has happened has completely corrupted by ability to assign quick views in the cockpit.  Even with a brand new hard drive and complete new installation of the sim, I can no longer assign custom quick views in the cockpit.  So....is this a result of the latest patch ?  or is this the microsoft store somehow storing my settings in the store rather than my computer ?

Could be since i've read (only yesterday) that your settings are stored "in the cloud". What happens if you hit the default button?

hmmmm......thats an idea......will that wash out any old debris that the store has saved for settings ??

didn't work....I talked to the xbox AND ms guys last night and after a lot of questioning, they finally stated what i had been afraid of all along.  All these custom settings are saved on your (in my case) xbox profile so each time the sim starts, it syncs with xbox and reloads all the trash that I had hoped would be cleaned away with both a new complete operating system AND a new msf2020 download.  So I'll wait a bit to see if this Zendesk thing does anything.  But I'm very disappointed that xbox and ms seem to have made this so difficult to simply start over

So if you change anything in your setup, it's saved to your XBox account (in the cloud) but if you set to default and apply & save it's not? If that is true it means that you can never revert to default. I find that hard to believe.

Steam installation went smoothly.  Now we'll see if Microsoft will refund the XBox wreck....
