December 27, 20205 yr This is a follow up to my “The nightmare before Christmas - MSFS Steam edition” thread. so all was good yesterday, a quick test flight and some test launches of the game in between reboots to make sure nothing untoward was happening. so this morning after a quick 2hrs 30min ride on Zwift I figured the mrs wouldn’t mind me having a quick flight, so firstly onto Orbx Central and a cheeky purchase of Southend - good all done let’s fire her up. so after the US update screen I get to the main menu with no issues - what a relief, wait - what’s this that’s just popped up, I have to update some files so I can access the online features!! very strange as I downloaded the whole package plus EVERYTHING under my content manager. Ok I’ll press the ok key, boom I’m now taken back to the ORIGINAL splash screen with the press any key to continue. At this point things start to become less responsive and every time I press the any key I just get another screen saying press any key, well you know the rest. I’m in a loop now and cannot get out of it, so taskbar right click and close the game. so I wait a very short period for steam to show the game closed then re-launch, I’m now faced with the prompt to download the complete package - WHF!!!!!! I quickly check my Official folder, is empty!!! But my community folder is in intact. so I’m reinstalling this shambles again for the 2nd time in two days - what a complete farce. New PC Ryzen 9850X3D - 32gb ddr5 6000Mhz - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk wifi - Gigabyte wind force gaming OC 5090 - 2TB Sabrent NVMe. Old PC - Ryzen 5900x - 32gb 3600Mhz RAM - Asus Strix X570-F Motherboard - ASUS TUF OC RTX 3090 - 1TB Sabrent NVMe. AOC AGON 32" 144Hz - Honeycomb Yoke - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. This is where you should have rebooted W10 instead of waiting and re-launching : fs2020 would have restarted normally Same problem happened to me (Press any key loop), but after reboot, everything restarted normally I have not re-downloaded anything and did 4 -5 flights those last days !

Apparently there was a server(s) outage today, there's a thread about it on the MSFD forums. December 27, 20205 yr And no single word of apology from MS, regarding: - the spikes all over the world, - the server outage causing complete loss of configuration settings for some users. Knowing they have some maintenance plan I would just postpone flying a day of two, but without any message from MS it's only frustration and investigation if anything is wrong on my end, a hour or two lost... Multlpiy this by the thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of MFS users... Edited December 27, 20205 yr by Steku
December 27, 20205 yr Had the same thing happen this morning (with the original splash and 'click any key to continue' screen). Rebooted and I was offline (even though I was signed in) and all my settings had defaulted. All was fine a bit later after another restart, but my graphic settings wont save. (Should I delete the settings json file?)
