December 30, 20205 yr Since I've recently updated my video card, I'm wondering if anybody is using the hd content. Is it noticeable? Is it a huge performance hit? I'm thinking it only attacks the graphics card which my 3090 should be able to tackle. I've gone back to ea off as I just didn't like some of the things I was seeing. thanks all 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

January 3, 20215 yr Author I only had cloud popping before the latest hot fixes and with older versions of asca and asn. Basically it seems to be performing like it did in v4 again. Which is good. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I’m having quite a few issues lately this last week with P3d v5.1 hf1 with my 787qw controls freezing mid flight asca clouds popping and device hung error sometimes and drop down menu overlapping the shift z red text. im stumped. how’d the HD clouds work out for you by the way? cheers mike
January 3, 20215 yr Author Haven’t tried them yet. Sorry to hear that. I’ve had a couple menu anomalous from time to time that usually fix when I click the P3d icon to minimize. Then click again to maximize. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
January 3, 20215 yr In non EA mode I use ASCA 256 (!) clouds for the most realistic appearance and high framerates. The 256 clouds I use with sharp edge looking clouds to give them a soft look. That gives better performance in an OC situation than using HD soft looking clouds. January 3, 20215 yr Author @GSaldenThanks for the reply sir. I'll try that sir. I noticed the other night I was on a vatsim flight into ORD. overcast and snowy. Performance took a dive. So I'm wondering if that setting will help me. EA on / off : ASP3D - 5 layers Also Cloud shadows will put a load on the system. You could try Low as at > 1500 ft you won’t see much difference between Low and Max. With my 2080 Ti I used Cloud shadows Quality at Low and Distance at High.
