Hallo,

I have some questions about buying a new monitor

would go for an ultra wide 34 inch monitor

But.. TN / VA / IPS Panel and wich specs are the most important to look at..

Any suggestion for a monitor around the price of 500 are welcome!

Thanx!

It's easy enough to learn about the different panel types.

500 Euros presumably as you're based in Belgium. These are listed as the best:_

But only one is less than 1000 Euros so you may need to rethink your budget.

One thing to look at is the synch capabilities the monitor aka G-sync.

This made the biggest difference  in P3D for me with the smoothest performance. I recently purchased an Acer Predator X34P which has similar specs to the AOC.Iwas using as 32" 2560x14440 monitor.

I see the AOC comes with Freesync which is somewhat dependent upon which type of GPU you have (Nvidia or AMD).

Re 4K vs 2K, The AOC is not 4K nor is my X34P . If you are serious about 4K I would make sure you have enough GPU power. A new RTX 3070 or higher specced card is going to be required in most cases if you target a 4K 34" monitor.  I am not sure you will find one of these in the price bracket you have mentioned though.

@Dyckmans91, impossible to answer your question without knowing what CPU anf GPU you have. MInimum of 1080Ti for 4K in P3D. I can't advise on MSFS as I don't have it.

The AOC is a VA panel so whilst not the highest quality it's generally okay. FreeSync requires an AMD card. If you want that feature for an Nvidia card you need to look for VSYNC but others who use that will be better equipped to answer.

If you're only using the monitor for flight sim you don't need 144Hz. I run my BenQ at 30Hz and it's extremely smooth. 60Hz is fine for flight sim.

Thanx I have an rtx 3080 card with 10 gb of vram / I9 10900K CPU

But I was searching for a 4K Monitor because I heard that with a 32 inch 4K monitor you don't need any anti aliasing settings and I know these things cost al lot frames...

Is this true about anti aliasing in 4K?

And what about performance for the sim when in 4K or 2K? Any difference?

I saw many many reviews, I know with 500 euro's it won't be the beast. But I just want to pick 'The best for that price' so IPS/VA. 4K/2K. 32inch/34inch / ...

And to bel clear, I only use the pc and monitor for flight sim and that's p3dv5.1

@Dyckmans91, your card is fine for 4K. But be aware you cannot buy ultra-wide screens in 4K. Their maximum resolution is 1440 vertical. 4K is 2160 and 16:9. So if you want ultimate sharpness then look at UHD monitors.

I use the minimum of anti-alias simply because with so many pixels jaggies aren't really a problem.

If you can stretch your budget the BenQ PD3200U is what I use and it's excellent for P3D. It can run at 30Hz so even though it doesn't have GSYNC or FREESYNC it's still a very good monitor and is an IPS panel - the best.

Alternatively this BenQ VA monitor might suit you.

I know that BenQ pd3200U That is one of my options indeed a bit more budget but the good things you told now are making it a possibility!

Ultrawide isn't a must! its nice but a nicer cleaner view (less shimmering) is better

Thanx!

There aren’t many independent reviews which is something I always check. It does support 3840*2160 at 30Hz and also GSync.

The disadvantages of ultra wide are you sacrifice vertical space. Personal choice only you can decide. Remember a good monitor will last many years. Probably longer than your graphics card. Think of it as a long-term investment.

So the LG has Gsync and the 4K?

Where do you found the 30HZ 4K Gsync information?

Go the support page and download the user manual. At the end it shows all supported resolutions and refresh rates. The product spec does say the LG supports GSync.
