GTN 750 failure RV10 (resolved)

Hello Dusterpilot

Excellent work, this information will give us an idea of your installation.

What we need next is your GTN "log files". There are two of them.

GTN logfiles     Page 23 0f 25 in Reality XP GTN User's Manual (XPlane)
http://files.100megabyte.com/realityxp/manuals/Reality XP GTN User's Manual (XPlane).pdf

Location is your documents folder

...\My Documents\rxpGTN.xpl.log
...\My Documents\rxpGtnSim.dll.log

In your Documents folder, you will find these two log files at the bottom of the listings.
Double click the log file and a text file will open. At the top of the window, select Edit and from the drop down menue click on Select all.
This will highlight the data in the file. Move your mouse over the highlighted area and rightclick..choose copy. Then paste this into your next posting here. Repeat this for the other log file.

Take your time..you are doing well.

Mr Draggendrop

my “Documents library “  has two folders

one is “drivers”

the other is “rxp-athome-2020.cpn”

a search for “My Documents\rxpGTN.xpl.log” and the GtnSim say

no items match your search

There should be a folder on your desktop in your name. Open the folder and you will see folders such as My Pictures, My Video's...etc...open the folder that is named My Documents...the log files are in there.

Another way is the start button, open it and My documents should be listed on the right hand side.

Give that a try

We set this computer up 10 yrs ago mainly for FSX. I have really only used it for FSX, Condor, and now X-Plane

my documents library has a folder called “dad drivers”

and a cpn file rxp-at home-2020.cpn

that is it

We now have a few peculiarities but I think that I have an idea what you did.

It appears that you may have downloaded the "wrapper" install application, put it in X-Plane 11 and ran it a few times.

If you are in "My Documents" and have no log files, the situation is pointing to a messed up install.

I need you to do this...

Go to Control panel, open "Programs and Features".

Do you see an entry for "Garmin GTN Trainer" and another entry for "RealityXP Garmin GTN (X-Plane)"

(Start button...Control panel selection in upper right)

Very good..Here is the plan so far...Take your time and follow exactly.

1) Go to "Control panel", open "Programs and Features".

Right click on the  entry for "Garmin GTN Trainer" and uninstall.

Right click on the  entry for "RealityXP Garmin GTN (X-Plane)" and uninstall.

reboot Windows 7

2) Reinstall the GTN software.

http://reality-xp.com/index.html#tabs                             use "<" or ">" to toggle between GTN and GNS products

Click "Download E-Commerce Installer" button and download the "rxpGTN-750-XPL.exe" into your "Downloads" folder.

Launch the "rxpGTN-750-XPL.exe" and an initial app page will load. Do the internet connectivity to server test. When done a new app tab will appear.

"This Computer" selection is selected...hit "continue" button.

A product info screen appears about the trainer download...hit "OK" button.

The information app tab appears and is prefilled with your information, just click the "Click Here to Reinstall" button and install the software.

Rule of thumb...Download to the "Downloads" folder. Read before you click. When the app asks for the location of the X-Plane 11 folder...use the apps browse feature and (scroll down) direct it to the X-Plane 11 folder location (usually on the desktop) .  You are showing the app where the folder is located...you are NOT moving anything.

reboot Windows 7
-------------------------------------

Finish the above first, then the last 2 steps will be to use Windows Defender and create  "exclusions" on C:\ProgramData\Reality XP and C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\rxpGtnSim32.dll to prevent "false positive files" being quarantined.

Mr Draggendrop:

I hope you are on the payroll at RXP

I also hope you spend most of your time working with children and young people as you are kind and patient

I followed your suggestions as prescribed however I still don’t have a file Resources\plugins\rxpGTN\64\win.xpl

if I search for 64\win.xpl I find two files

Resources\plugins\Pilotedge\64
and

Resources\plugins\PluginAdmin\64

I also checked for log files in the documents folder and again came up empty

This means you've not installed the RXP GTN in the XP11 folder, the parent folder therefore to the one you're indicating.

Do you have multiple XP11 copies? Did you select "XP11" during RXP GTN installation? Did the installer prompted you to confirm the location of your XP11 folder (the one containing X-Plane.exe)?

Mr RXP President you have hit upon the solution. I had created a shortcut X-Plane 11 and once I went back to the original program I found everything I needed.

many thanks to you and Draggendrop

what would be really great would be a plane with glass panel, your GTN, and a proper autopilot

Here is a list to choose from. When in doubt, try the Laminar Research  stock C172SP with the mod package (In the list).

Perhaps we should change the name of this post to reflect the positive outcome thanks to the help of the community

if someone can recommend a plane that has these features I would appreciate knowing about it

single engine piston

GTN 750 and 650 compatible

glass cockpit like G3X, Dynon, Advanced

autopilot appropriate for rest of the panel -essential!

need a knob for altitude and heading- like RL

push to synchronize

im just trying to fly IFR and looking for a platform to use the great GTN integration that RXP has done

Thanks for your help!
