GTN 750 failure RV10 (resolved)

Downloaded the Reality XP GTN 750 but when I open the plane, in the space where the navigator would be, says “go to documents file inside of aircraft folder and open “Reality XP configuration example.pdf” but it doesn’t exist in my folder

In the Windows Start menu under R look for Reality XP and the User Manual.  Most is explained there.

Can you tell me what files go in what folders?

Can you please describe what you're trying to manually do with files and folders?

Thanks for your help

my system is somewhat fragmented and I can’t get the GTN to show up in my popups menu so I tried moving things around

I was hoping that simply downloading the program and putting it in my X-Plane folder would work but it didn’t

running Windows 7

I'm not certain to understand this. Did you mean you don't have any Reality XP menu in the X-Plane Plugins menu?

Can you validate you have this file:

XPlane11\Resources\Plugins\rxpGTN\64\win.xpl

Can you please cross check otherwise your anti-virus has not quarantined any 'rxp' file?

Can you also confirm during the RXP GTN installation, you've indicated the correct location where is your XP11 folder (the one which contains X-Plane.exe)?

There is a Reality XP file in the plugins folder but it doesn’t show up when the aircraft is loaded like other plugins such as Pilotedge

I do not find this file

XPlane11\Resources\Plugins\rxpGTN\64\win.xpl

when I put it in the search box

I have downloaded and run the program several times

WRT RXP GTN Users Manual, April 2020, rev 17, XPlane

Reality XP GTN User's Manual (XPlane).pdf  (from the product installation)
C:\ Program Files (x86)\reality XP\GTN Simulations\X-Plane\

or if not properly installed, download manual here...

RealityXP all platform manuals/drivers downloads

The GNS V2 manual (XPlane) is also available from this link...explains .ini files well.
---------------------------
Maybe it's just me but there appears to be some ambiguity here. I suggest we start over and begin with some basic information that will assist RXP or others who try to help. Please humour me.

1] From your posts above, you are running Windows 7 which also means you are not running Vulcan.

2] Does X-Plane 11 run OK with the default LR Cessna 172S, as an example, without the GTN addon installation?

3] Is this an initial installation and are you downloading from the F1 wrapper?

3] Where is your X-Plane 11 folder located?  (example, Desktop)

4] In your main X-Plane 11 folder, using file explorer, navigate through this file structure and see if files, in this order are present.
    X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\rxpGTN\64\win.xpl

5] Are you using Windows Defender and/or a 3rd party virus solution.

-------------------------------------

There should be no moving of files. Do a stock installation. The general intent is as such...

Download the full installation from the F1 wrapper into your downloads folder. Run the installation from your download folder.
Make sure your antivirus has not removed any files from the GTN installation and/or if flagged, allow installation. This applies to Defender and any 3rd party virus solution. Defender (if also enabled) will kick in if it senses that the other virus program is disabled.
Launch the installation and direct it to the X-Plane 11 folder when asked (via file browse).
The installation will install the proper files in the proper places and install the updated trainer.
Turn on your virus protection and scan...if something from the installation is flagged, whitelist it and finish your scan.
Reboot windows 7, Start X-Plane 11 and choose an aircraft (updated) configured for the GTN750. Cold and dark on a ramp spot in daylight.
Once the aircraft loads, generally you can turn on the battery, avionics then go to top left screen, Plugins menue and choose GTN1, master and show window. The above is just a generalisation since some aircraft have a peculiar method to enable the packages first time or every time.

If you can answer the above questions, it will give us a better picture of what is happening.

The GTN will work in most aircraft as a popup/popout if aircraft have not been implemented as GTN ready with bezel.

This aircraft should be ready to go (out of the box) for auto bezel implementation with the latest Digital Replica Van's RV10 update. If there is an issue, co-ordinates for the ini are also available in the links above. An image of the bezel is also shown in the links above.

Ok, but what about opening a file explorer to the parent folder:

[replace this long text between the brackets with the folder where you have installed XP11]\Resources\Plugins\rxpGTN\

And let me know what's inside?

NB: the "folder where you've installed XP11" is the folder where there is x-plane.exe.

Thank you for your considerable efforts on my behalf

let me see what I can do!

I find two copies of \Resources\Plugins\rxpGTN\
one copy is in the main x-plane folder and another is in Resources then Plugins

if I click on it then it asks me if I want to run it which I have done several times

thanks

What you are saying (as I understand) is this:

- <main x-plane folder>\Resources\Plugins\rxpGTN\

- <main x-plane folder>\Resources\Plugins\Resources\Plugins\rxpGTN\

(literally translating what you're saying into paths)

Please just try being more explicit (complete paths) and answer: can you let me know what's inside?

When I hit properties- It says application.exe

I don't believe "hitting properties" relates to "what's inside" (a folder).

I'd suggest you take a step back, re-read this discussion, and make sure to understand what it is I'm asking for. If you have any doubt, prior doing anything, please try explaining what it is you don't understand that I'm asking, otherwise, we'll bounce every other message with me asking A and you answering B and not progressing in resolving the issue you're having.
