February 12, 20215 yr Hi, needing some better advice. I have installed MSFS 2020. the logos run normally, a picture of a mountain/landscape is displayed. This is where it ends the MSFS 2020 and drops back to the desktop. I have done everything to try and run this sim. Reinstalled, run as admin manager, checked the xbox live credentials, checked the antivirus and firewall settings, run the Alpha as administrator and nowt works. My PC is new and well capable of running this sim. thanks in advance.
February 12, 20215 yr Welcome first of all! What you see happens here and there, you are not alone. When it happens to me I sometimes have to restart MSFS couple of times. Right now there seem to be also some server issues on MS side. Unfortunately there are so many possible reasons. Were you ever Abel to run MSFS or is this the very first time? Are Gaming Services and XBOX Client installed? February 12, 20215 yr Author HI DAD, Thank you for your welcome and message. I have never been able to run MSFS. Yes the Gaming Service and xbox client are installed. best Darren
February 12, 20215 yr Are you logged in to XBOX server with your gamertag? Try to logout and back in to possibly re-sync. Else, in MS --> Settings --> Apps try to fix or reset MSFS and try again Edit per my initial comment above, for some (?) XBOX services are not available and prevent MSFS to even start: Edited February 12, 20215 yr by DAD Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
February 12, 20215 yr O.K. This may cause laughter among some of you.. I have not been able to even load msfs2020 to fly ... It was just crash after crash just before loading the chosen flight. I disconnected my internet and bingo... the sim loaded and played quite satisfactorily. Reconnect the internet and bang, back to a potato .I have no idea what the hell is going on but I have been able to replicate this scenario numerous times. Try it ..
February 12, 20215 yr Laughter is over on my end. These are the things I wish MS would address first and primarily before pushing world updates. At least - as someone possibly correctly mentioned that MS/Asobo have different teams for Core SIM and Scenery Development - I wish they would not bind core sim updates to world/scenery updates. But heck, maybe they ran into a core sim issue with their WU3 but since they don‘t tell us we will probably never find out... February 12, 20215 yr If it doesn't run when connected to the Intertron, but it does when you are not, I would think that was related to the streaming settings in MSFS, or possibly, if you have the Steam version, maybe a setting in Steam. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Once I figured out I could manually tell the game where to store the cache, I created a folder for it so that when this happens, I can just go over to File Manager and delete the file in there. The sim then starts right up for me. I doubt this is the only thing that can cause this problem, but maybe try this and see if it helps. Hope so! Mark Lam
